1995 TOYOTA HILUX

1995 Toyota Hi-Lux - converted small block Chevy V8….one for the petrol heads …this is a beast!!

Here we have a stunning and very rare collectors item, a 1995 long-bed Toyota Hi-Lux. This Hilux has been in storage since 2008 and recently been brought back to life.

This vehicle is a very clean example, the original 2.4 diesel engine had covered around 100000 miles (last service was registered at 99249). The 2.4 diesel engine was removed and modified to take a small block Chevy V8 with a twin holly carburettor . The V8 small block was purchased and imported new from the USA (around 2005). The engine mounts were moved to accommodate the larger engine. Additionally, a aluminium plate was fabricated (by a company located near Bodiam) to bridge the engine and gearbox (original to the truck with the 4WD capacity) the current mileage stands at 100921, so the Chevy engine has covered around 1000 miles.

(Those that might be interested in converting back to a diesel would need a new wiring lume and engine.)

The interior of the single cab is all original, a small repair has been done to the cloth drivers seat and there is a small tear to the leather beneath this. The stereo has been replaced and has a CD player installed (circa 2000). There is the original jack and toolkit located behind the passenger seat.

The exterior of the vehicle is in good straight condition for its age - of note there are two areas of bubbling under the paint, above the near-side rear wheel arch (see photos). The rear flat bed has been skinned in aluminium. The truck still has full factory original paint and stickers, and just 2 previous owners from new (the last owner was my father). As you’d expect there are age related marks commensurate with age, but has been loved and looked after.

Other modifications include alloy wheels, chrome bull bars on front and rear, spotlights and it has been raised around 5 inches (brand new leaf springs at the rear).

Recently MOT’d, with the breaks being replaced. There is a small oil leak that will need attention. No warranty is given or implied.
