For sale: 2012 Mechanically Facelifted Land Rover Discovery 4 XS

This is the 3.0L SDV6 model, equipped with the facelifted ZF 8HP70 automatic gearbox and the knurled rotary gear selector.

Presented in Aintree Green with colour-matched bumpers and wheel arches. It sits on 19” Land Rover alloy wheels, painted in Gunmetal Grey and wrapped in General Grabber AT3 tyres.

The cabin features 7 seats upholstered in Ebony black leather with Lunar contrast stitching, black carpets, and an ivory-coloured headlining. The dash and vent surrounds are finished in a modern brushed aluminium trim.

Currently showing 131,700 miles. The oil, oil filter, air filter, and cabin filter have just been changed. MOT valid for 11 months (with zero advisories); a fresh 12-month MOT can be arranged at the buyer’s request, depending on the sale price.

The car benefits from a large and comprehensive service history. However, the previous owner was unable to obtain full paperwork from the lease company, so only a lease printout exists for the car’s first few years.

In 2024, the vehicle received six new injectors, leak-off pipes, a turbo boost hose, and a high-pressure fuel pump, all fitted by diesel specialists DTM in Bristol. It has also recently been fitted with a new battery and wiper blades.

The underside of the car is structurally sound, though it does have some surface rust. Had we been keeping the car, our plan was to treat it with Lanoguard.

The adjustable air suspension operates exactly as it should, as shown in the photos. All off-road modes and the low-range gearbox function correctly. The car has not been used for green laning. The previous owner had it for five years, using it to escort clients around a shooting estate, where it was stored in a dry barn. Over the past 12 months, it has done less glamorous duty on school runs and child-hauling duties – all of which it has excelled at.

The electronic handbrake engages and disengages without any untoward noises.

The previous owner’s mechanic advised that the intake manifolds have been replaced, though there is no documentation to confirm this.

As you’d expect of a 12-year-old vehicle, it has picked up some bramble rash and stone chips, but nothing that detracts from it being a very presentable, mature-looking vehicle, equally at home on- or off-road.

We are selling this car reluctantly. It really is the best of both worlds for families; combining the comfort and pace of a well-equipped fast estate car with the practicality of a 7-seater like a Transporter or Tourneo. We’re simply downsizing our vehicle fleet, and this car deserves more than just school runs.

We are located close to Bristol Airport, around 20 minutes from Gordano Services on the M5. Airport pick-up can be arranged for buyers travelling from further afield.

Usual private sale terms apply: the vehicle will not be released until funds have cleared. Test drives are welcome with myself etc. Delivery may be possible, subject to cleared funds and agreement on travel costs.
