Originally supplied to Switzerland in June 1970, this left-hand drive 911 2.2E left the factory finished in Tangerine over black vinyl, a specification confirmed by supporting Porsche documentation. Imported into the UK around early 2017, all relevant EU and UK taxes and duties were paid prior to registration. The car was then subjected to a complete bare-metal restoration to factory-correct standards.
In the time since the restoration—now approximately seven and a half years ago—the car has seen limited, careful use and has been stored appropriately, retaining its outstanding condition throughout.
Both the matching-numbers engine and gearbox were removed and fully rebuilt using genuine Porsche components. The cosmetic presentation matches the mechanical quality, with extensive attention paid to correctness and detail.
Key works carried out include:
• Full braking system replacement: discs, calipers, lines, and master cylinder (all genuine parts)
• New clutch and complete exhaust system installed
• New oil tank and fuel tank fitted as preventative maintenance
• Replacement of heater cables, gear linkage bushes, and full washer system overhaul
Inside, a period-correct salt and pepper velour carpet set was installed, and the ‘S’ specification instruments were sent to North Hollywood Speedometer for professional refurbishment. A pair of correct-style Sport seats were fitted, trimmed with Pepita houndstooth centres for a factory-authentic finish.
Every nut, bolt and trim component was either restored or replaced to factory-correct standard, resulting in a car that now presents very much as it would have when it first left Zuffenhausen in 1970.
As values of early pre-impact bumper 911s (pre-1974) continue to rise, the appeal of these cars lies not just in their aesthetic purity and analogue driving characteristics, but also in their relative simplicity and robust engineering. Many have now entered long-term collections and are rarely offered for public sale.
This example, with matching numbers, correct specification, and a full documented restoration, represents a rare opportunity to acquire a properly restored early 911 that remains true to its original build and character.
