Due to lack of time and family commitments I’ve reluctantly decided to sell this beautiful car which I’ve owned for 4 years. I am only the second owner (the first holding onto it for 21 years from new!) and the car has currently done only 20,657 miles. I’m genuinely sad to sell the car but it deserves to be driven more.
The car is in fantastic condition as it has always been stored inside and has been regularly serviced by dealers and specialists. This is documented in the comprehensive paperwork that comes with the car, dating all the way back to when it was new including sales brochures, user manual, servicing invoices, MOTs, etc.
Whilst with Allon White Sports Cars for a service and MOT in 2023, the car had a period-correct interior upholstery restoration and seat re-trim in black leather with correct 111S seat padding. At this time the car also had new suspension fitted all-round with Elise S2-spec Bilstein dampers (the S2 Elise setup is considered better than the original dampers). Shortly afterwards 4 new Yokohama tyres were fitted and the car really is ‘peak Elise’ and is unbelievable to drive.
It has its original 1.8 K-Series engine and the 111S model had variable valve timing – a desirable model as it provided a more power (143BHP) which the chassis was more than capable of dealing with. Engine bay and front radiator area (under bonnet) all in great condition.
Invoices cover full service history and include cam belts, cam followers, water pump and starter motor being replaced 1600 miles ago.
Car comes with its original burgundy fabric roof in black vinyl bag which is in exceptional condition and fits perfectly. All other components for the soft top are in great condition, present and correct.
Exterior bodywork is exceptional on the whole although the usual minor stone chips are apparent on the lower body, typical of these cars. The rear lower clamshell appears to have had a superficial repair at some point before I owned the car, the paint is lifting around the exhausts due to heat and the lower area has a small blister in the paint (please see photos) – this is the last job I was intending to do but lack of time has meant this still needs doing. All panels fit perfectly (for a Lotus!) and both doors have a reassuring ‘thunk’ when closed. Boot and front bonnet hatches also fit and operate perfectly.
