As part of the export post-war drive, Austin Healey's success helped to lay the template of the traditional masculine British sports car. Powdered by proven and durable Austin engines, the simple styling with a poised stance remained unblemished throughout its lengthy production run, remaining as pure as the original design sketch. With each model progression, the power and technical specification improved, culminating with the arrival of the six-cylinder engine, instantly creating the legend of the 'Big Healey'.

Soon finding a place in motorsports, thanks to its conventional engineering, robust construction, modest skill to fix, and modifying potential, the 'Big Healey' soon became a familiar sight in club competition hill climbs up to the world-famous Monte Carlo rally. Offering nimble handling and straightforward, easy-to-apply power, the Austin-Healey soon became one of the best-loved sports cars ever made.

The BJ7 MKII version of the 3000 is one of just 455 RHD home market cars produced. Retaining the Girling disc brakes and the option of a Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive, the BJ7 also provided the owner with some useful creature comforts such as wind-up windows and an easily-folded hood.

This November 1962 2+2 car is finished in Healey Ice Blue metallic paint with blue leather upholstery. Bought new by its original owner, the car remained in the family until 2007, when it was bought by the last registered keeper. Subject to a full body renovation in 2012 by respected specialists Healey JME, the engine and gearbox have also been rebuilt. Furthermore, the interior has been completely overhauled and almost every aspect of the mechanics, trim and cosmetics has seen attention. It retains the triple carb set-up from the earlier models and has several upgraded parts. It comes with an MOT to May 2026, spare keys and a box of spares.
