Description
We all know how motorsport features so much in the development of many of the cars to which we have become accustomed in classic and supercar circles. Ford have their Motorsport Division, Mercedes with AMG, BMW with M Cars and so on. With Subaru, their legendary modern classics are usually carrying the WRX label, STi too, but in the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) there are some cars that we rarely have the chance to see in the UK. This Spec C is one of those cars. Built primarily as a lightweight version of their standard STi, it was stripped out with the intention that it would mostly be supplied to those who wanted to use it in track events and so they were fitted with less comforts, more race ready and as such almost a homologation piece.
Presented here is an exceptional and rare example of the 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX STi Spec C, finished in the striking Pure White - a colour that perfectly complements the car’s motorsport-inspired character. With just 64,030km on the clock, this example has been well maintained and is in fantastic condition, making it an ideal acquisition for both discerning collectors and passionate driving enthusiasts.
The Spec C is a lightweight, track-oriented variant of the WRX STi, designed for driving enthusiasts who demand the highest levels of performance and precision. It was built with a focus on agility and handling, shedding unnecessary weight through various engineering measures including thinner glass, aluminium body panels, lighter front seats and reduced sound-deadening materials, all of which contribute to a more connected driving experience while ensuring that the car retains its rigidity and strength.
Motivation is provided by a 2-litre EJ207 turbocharged flat-four engine, producing around 320PS (316bhp) and 318lb/ft of torque distributed across all four wheels via Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. The Spec C also includes upgraded suspension components like STi-tuned Bilstein dampers, reinforced subframes and thicker stabiliser bars. The car’s Brembo brakes provide superb stopping power, ensuring that the Spec C remains composed and in full control even during the most spirited drives. The car’s performance is further enhanced by the 6-speed close-ratio gearbox. The larger rear wing improves aerodynamic efficiency and stability at higher speeds, while the rigid chassis and upgraded suspension offer track-ready performance.
One of the most significant features of this particular Spec C, is the inclusion of the factory 16" steel wheels, a feature that makes this example exceptionally rare. The 16" steel wheels were originally factory-fitted to these cars, with Subaru expecting owners to fit their own performance wheels for everyday use. Many Spec Cs have since been upgraded with aftermarket alloys, but this example retains its factory-fitted steel wheels, offering a true, unmodified look that reflects how it left the factory. This is a highly desirable trait for collectors seeking a car that appears to have remained as close to its original form as possible.
Accompanying this car is a comprehensive Japanese service history, documenting the car’s maintenance and ensuring that it remains in top mechanical condition.
The Subaru Impreza WRX STi Spec C is a piece of rally-bred engineering at its finest and with only a limited number produced, this example represents an exceptional addition to any collection or enthusiast’s garage.
