AUDI A6 (C6) S6 Avant V10 2007

Following a rare instance of nostalgia, I recently acquired another BMW E39 touring. Consequently, one from my stable has to leave. My bad luck is your good fortune; so I reluctantly introduce my Audi C6 S6 Avant in Phantom Black.

As with all my toys this highly specified S6 was carefully sourced and has been enthusiastically maintained regardless of expense.

The vehicle is straight with all original panels, paint and glass. Tyres were recently replaced with the correct Audi Approved (AO) Continental Conti Sport 2's at a cost of over £700. Similarly, pads and discs were replaced with genuine Audi items despite pattern parts being widely available at almost half the cost. Other age and model related remedial work has included a replacement of the rear windscreen washer assembly, replacement of the front passenger door lock regulator, replacement of the dash mounted sunlight sensor.

I have maintained a folder including MOT certificates, service invoices and parts receipts. I also paid for a DVLA enquiry to send me the documents they hold on file for the vehicle and will include this in the sale.

The bodywork condition is commensurate with age and use. There is some lacquer missing from around the rear light clusters and a couple of parking dings, a scratch on the front bumper. To bring the car to higher cosmetic standard, I would be considering a four wheel refurb, paint correction/detail and potentially a couple of PDR repairs. The automatic tailgate can be temperamental and likely requires further investigation to diagnose the fault to then determine a suitable fix. It will open and close but requires some encouragement.

Internally the car presents itself well but its worth noting that this was used as the family car, supermarket barge, dumper truck and school run wagon. There are some marks to the leather and headlining, some rather stubborn paint on one of the door handles and bits of dirt in the overmats. Again, nothing you would not expect on a 10 year old family car but I am fussy. All switchgear is present and correct and operates with customary Audi precision. Consistent with age and use, the stop button is starting to look a little past its best but it’s a cheap part and an easy fix. The seats are in sound order with no rips or tears and no premature bolster wear. The lumbar adjustment on the front seats is exceptional and the car is capable of transporting 4 adults and dog in style over long distances very comfortably and at some pace should you so desire.

As can be seen above, no expense has been spared in enthusiastically maintaining this S6. It’s the main car for my wife and children so I insist that it remains in sound running order at all times. However, be under no illusions. This car is not for the faint hearted. Compared to diesel its expensive to run, insure and tax. If economy is your thing then this won’t suit you.
