What oil for GKN diff in my Griffith
Discussion
Hi chaps,
Spotted a little leak from the diff seal while I've been grovelling around under it. Nothing to worry about for this year but I don't know how much oil I've lost so I might as well drop the lot out and refill while I've got easy access with the body lifted.
Can anyone recommend an oil for the GKN diff and how much I should get?
Its got a drain on the bottom and a refill plug on the offside if thats any use.

Alright mate . . . This is what I've been using for the last 3-4yrs. Excellent stuff.
Millers CRX LS 80/140 BM
Make sure your diff is draining now, tilt it up and let it drain over a couple of days to get everything out of it. Run a magnet round in it to make sure you've not got any bigger bits floating about and then fill with the above.

75/90 are gearbox oil numbers not diff you need 80/140 to gain max protection

Just spoke to Richard at Dulford's - he's just used Hypoid (HD) 75/90 in mine.
Just taken a look at Opie oils site and it recomments 2 oils for the final drive (diff) for a Griff / Chim :
Castrol SAF-XJ 75w-140 fully synthetic final drive lubricant
or
Amsoil Synthetic SEVERE Gear Oil 75w-140 (SVO)
