Just heard from one of my drivers that there has been a 4 car pile up on the M61 this morning....nothing remarkable about that you may think!
ALL 4 cars were marked BiBs!!
Apparently on some sort of training exercis, boxing in etc and the lead car took the other 3 out...OOPS
Hope all concerned are fit and well but it must have been quite a sight!

Sounds like the pursuit training course - one of the scenarios is set round there.

I'll find out more when I'm back to work Friday.

Local paper a couple of weeks ago (buxton advertiser)had an article about a local BiB who was doing a pursuit management training course and ended up going head on with another car while overtaking. Everyone involved was ok but i don't think the instructors feedback was up to much

Police cars don't have insurance

Whilst Mungo rightly points out that Police vehicles are exempt Insurance under RTA 88, many Forces do in fact take Insurance out. My old Force was with the Mutual Municipal Insurance, which was much favoured by Local Authorities.

Ooooops. I hope no one was injured.

However, all I can picture is Officer Barbrady on South Park saying, “move along people, there’s nothing to see here”.

No doubt the cars will be replaced at the taxpayer's expense... and will all have plenty of paid time off to get over their whiplash...

Still, guess they have to learn somehow.

In my force the coming together of force metal requires an insurance form and lots of other internal ones to explain how it occurred. The excess on the policy is £2000!

The force Insurance bill is 1.5 Million per year!

Ah but what could you get the insurance bill down to with a few years no claims?
