14 points already, another N.I.P. received. Any suggestions?
Discussion
Before the obvious suggestions of buy a push bike and start walking are posted, I could do with some serious help.
I've got 14 points already, 3 SP30's (3,4&4) and another 3 for a MS90 (failing to provide details of the driver). The latter was received after the efficient H.R. department of my employers gave the Police the wrong address for the N.I.P. (company car).
Latest N.I.P. for travelling at 62mph on a dual carriageway with a temporary 50mph speed limit for road works.
Is there any truth in the rumour that cameras have to be visible? Is that just static ones not the cheating B@%T?!DS in an unmarked van parked inside the traffic cones of roadworks with non illuminated orange lights on the roof. They might as well have thrown a camouflage blanket over themselves! Community Safety Partnership my A?@E, Piggy bank more like!!!!

I'm guessing that if you have a company car you then there is a need for you to drive as part of your job (or at least the need can be realistically argued). If that's the case I'd suggest you play that card and expect a whince-inducing fine and be 'on probation' for a little while with all those points on the license. Of course, you then MUST buy a Scamera detector of some description as you do seem to have a habit of getting snared.
Alternatively, a short ban would clear your tally. All depends on how likely you are to rack them up again?

As you have accurately stated, quite likely to get caught again, only reason I still have my licence is due to my job. Lucky for me its considered important enough to keep my licence. However, I think that 17 (or more) points might be taking the PI$$!
In my defence, the rozzers in Devon & Cornwall don't seem to have much else to do, I was even driving on Christmas Day and saw a Volvo with a radar gun out of the window!!!
There are no motorways West of Exeter and I have not been nicked at over 80mph on a dual carriageway!

JonRB said:Well in the days before points, I managed to reach 12 endorsements before finally getting a ban. Well four bans actually. That's roughly equivalent to a minimum of 36 points. I was banned for four 6 month periods.
How is it possible to have 14 points without being banned under 'totting up'?
Ok, assuming (for whatever reason) you are very susceptible to getting caught, I'd suggest that 'motorist's aids' are going to be a wise investment! Treat yourself to an electric garage door. You can always buy the remote opening device now while you save up for the door itself.
It would seem like you can't get out of the recent NIP, so you're looking at 17 points. Regardless of how they were accumulated, if you've already been 'let off' once with 14 points, I don't fancy your chances of similar treatment this time. You should accept the inevitable ban, buy some gadgets with the money you save on servicing and then go and work on your observation. Try that game where the monsters pop up and you have to smack them with a hammer before they disappear

Personally I have been sticking religously to speed limits in temporary roadworks for a copuply of years as they are obvious points for a scamera van. Seems remarkable that someone with 14 points was prepared to take the risk!
However I suspect a ban is guaranteed, and you need to work on minimising.

Nows not a time to mention how many times ive gone down the A30 @ 3 figure speeds then
sorry that you have been caught but common sense prevails , the times ive absolutely flown through devon/cornwall and never seen plod i cant count and on the few times i have been they gave me a bit of a lecture but let me off , but being caught speeding in roadworks is a bit silly , the limit is there for a good reason , ive worked on the roadside doing surveying , so i know what its like .

If you plead severe hardship you should get another 3 but it will be accompanied by a monster fine, a colleague of mine was on 13 but got a NIP for 65 through temporary roadworks on the Goole Bridge on the M62, went to court, took a good solicitor who pointed out that a car salesman without a licence wasn't much good to his employer. The mag gave him another 4 and a £996 fine!

www.pepipoo.com would be a good start
Thanks PHers for your comments and in response to chrisgr31 and dennisthemennace, I too tend to stick to temp speed limits for safety reasons. On this occasion, the road work count down signs were in place, 600y, 400y, 200y and then at about 150y to go the sign was up and I was caught. I know its no excuse but I was slowing whilst passing a tractor and by the cones was within the 50mph limit. I know what its like standing by the side of the road in a hi vis vest and being buzzed by some idiot while you're trying to work.
I'm not making excuses, as my track record shows I do speed and inevitably get caught and pay the price. Just trying to save my licence and job.

I know this is unhelpful. Sympathy for some-one with three SP30's then gets caught at 62 in a 40 is always going to be a bit thin.
Personally I'd be more worried about your lack of observation or complete lack of speed related judgement.
Nobody is invincible, next time might be a crash not a camera and you might spend 12 months recuperation when it's impossible to drive, banned or not. A guy who works at our place still isn't right years after a bad smash.
We all hate scameras and the scum that operate them but you really must start to take more care, it might be me you drive into.
Anyway, whatever happens good luck, I certainly would not like to be in your position.

Concentrate - Observe - Anticipate - react und adjust with giving Space und Time - it also ensure you comply to safest speed within margin of tolerance (motorway apart

Und buy a useful gadget und in your case - think you need to set to max warnign whilst you learn to COAST again - und to do this - book course with ADI. In fact - if you do this before court case - may prove willingness to learn und reduce ban as you are doing something to improve your lack of skill here
