Banned from 1 banned from all??
Discussion
I recall watching a TV programme (may have been one of Palin's programmes) where a woman was doing her driving test in India. It involved driving in a straight line up an empty road and stopping, so you shouldn't have many worries on that count.
Don't see that a ban here should have any effect in India though.

Yes, its a prime example of letting Religion rule modern day society.
Their beliefs are "If its my time to die fine, but if its isn't I will be saved" which is rubbish and not a way to be in a busy modern (ish) world.
Clarkson also mentioned that "Might has right" over there, so by rights, only drive trucks.
Heres the link to the Clarksons Motorworld video:

This is all covered on the other thread.
However, if you are banned here it does not stop you taking a test in another EU country and driving there.
Maybe, if you are likely to be banned here, the best thing to do is to get an address abroad whilst delaying the issue of the summons, swop your UK licence for a foreign one and tell the CPS to send the speeding summons to your new address abroad. They simply won't bother, they just give up 'cause all they want is the cash. That way you can keep on driving here quite legally on your foreign licence. When your points are expired just change back to a UK licence. I can tell you that this DEFINATELY works as someone close to me has done it. No names in case someone is watching!

This scam is very common in Ireland/Northern Ireland. People are routinely changing their licences from one country to the next to avoid points. The Irish plods can't put points on a UK/NI licence and the UK plod can't touch a Irish licence. Go for it.

And to answer your question, the UK Driving Licence is a European Licence, if your banned here, you can't drive anywhere in the EU, Since India isn't in the EU you can take a test (not that it matters) and drive over there fine.
Not yet ist not. You can still drive if you possess foreign one from another member state - on that foreign one - as lieber cooperman or some one say above. If outside EU - Austrian, Swiss, Germans und French require that person to sit their driving test within 6 months of residency should they be residing longer than this period und am sure lieber von, DVD wil correct if wrong - but think UK also requires this too. (Evidenced by Brazilian who passed our driving test but was still qualifying for Quentin Wilson's "Britain's Worst Driver" prog of couple of years ago.

By the way - und this ist important for those who still have old style paper licence in UK... you have UK driving licence - paper version - which ist acceptable in UK.
ist only valid in Europe if you have photo ID - which for most ist the passport which you have to have anyway.

You also supposed to have log book in the car or on person. Und provide proof of insurance.
You are also supposed to wear reflective vest if you have to leave car on fast road - legal in all countries und France und Benelux countries yet to ratify this one formally. (Ist a "should" in France und a "MUST" in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Austria und has to be inside car saloon und not boot or hatch area.
Und contrary to dogmatic stuff on cycling forums - ist actually the law that cyclists are visible - lights und high viz. Swiss do already require cyclists to register bikes und hore bikes are also registered. That little number?

Und what do they do with the fines.. use them to build facilties such as cycle lanes.. Now what a novel idea... I wonder where they get this one from... und it will filter in here.

To return - already posted in other thread. "clack" should be OK as they cannot enforce a ban internationally yet. Nothing to stop him applying und taking Indian driving test to obtain their qualification either. He need to be aware that he could end up doing some press ups for the police if copped breaking a traffic rule though if my memory of silliest story ist accurate

Regarding India, all you need to do is take the insanely easy Indian driving test and you get a licence... This consists of driving a Hindustan Oxford 100 yards in a straight line without hitting a cow, and you've passed. I remember Clarkson taking it on his round the world thing a few years back.

But would i be allowed to take a driving test in India? Im going on a year long working Visa, and its to do with tourism. Which by all accounts is being really encouraged by the goverment.
Cant see why they wont allow a foreign national to take it. If they dont ask 'have you been banned anywhere else' your not lying by not telling them... I suppose if they do, then technically you would be illegal by lying, but I really dont know how they would find out...
