Has anyone added on any thing like the following to their C5's?

- Reverse Parking Assist (Camera or Sensor)
- Sat Nav
- Remote Control Stereo Controls on Steering Wheel
- MP3 Player
- Stereo Upgrade (to RDS or otherwise)
- DVD
- Reverse Matrix Display Signage

I am interested in installing a Reverse Park Assist, just wanted to know if anyone has done the same and how have they found it!

I've got a TV Screen, DVD, CD Autochanger and MP3 player in mine.

Parking assist is completely gay - it requires more rubbish "nipples" on the back of the car, just like you see on the back of Bimmers and the like.

I've had to build the install for the TV myself - even though it's a motorised unit - as the C5 has a wierd shape for the stereo, mucho fabrication. I still haven't finished the dash panel yet - waiting until after we've moved house.

Being 'completely gay' myself, I just get my husband to exit the vehicle and assist with tight spots. It's by far the cheapest option and... oh please... I'm not going to lower myself to making a joke about his nipples being attractive.

Yes, I know it's a shock, but a lot of gay people drive corvettes... some women, too!.. and since you're probably expecting a stereotypically bitchy comment (in good humour, there's a genuine smiley on the end of this one)... Why the hell would anyone put a TV in a sports car??!?!? That's just crazy! :-)

Got a Pharos sat nav plug in for the Ipaq. Found a bracket online which clips onto the lower dash by the ac controls. Good thing is that you can unclip it when you don't need it and you have the PDA for regular use. Doesn't look quite as good as the installed version but more versatile.

Sheesh! Some people! It's this marvellous thing called "Pop culture".

www.mydigiguide.com/dgx/wbl.dll?a=19&h=49&PID=26823&uss=how%20gay%20are%20you

Other programs which display this kind of culture - South Park and The Simpsons. Let me guess - you don't own a TV?

My wife drives my vette too, and owns a 270bhp VW Beetle Covertible, as she's horsepower crazy, so it could hardly be qualified as a "sexist" comment. I resent the implication that it was! And like I care who is gay! More power to them, even though that isn't what this is about!

As for the TV in the vette - horses for courses. I like it, it's my vette, you don't have to, and your opinion will make no difference to it's positioning in my car.

Chill out! It's been a long time since I've seen someone turn around a completely harmless statement to being chauvenistic, sexist, prejudice and homophopic, none of which describe me or my "tongue in cheek" statement!

Issues, anyone?

Okay, okay, okay :-) I take it back :-) Especially because you like the Simpsons and South Park (both of which are written by gay people!)

Pop culture is a tricky thing. Describing something as 'completely gay' is actually deliberately derogatory and originates from schoolyard prejudice in the US. It's used in South Park a lot as a parody of how kids behave with each other. I would use it myself amongst friends much in the same way that black people use the N word amongst themselves. I know it sounds like I have issues, but people should realise that when you're so used to being prejudiced against it's very easy to get into the habit of jumping up to defend yourself, or at least to point out things which you feel are inappropriate even though they were not meant to be.

For the record, I formally retract any implication that you may have any prejudice. Although, like me, I think you were perhaps a little quick to defend (which is okay... my posting could have been taken to be confrontational though that wasn't the intention, honest!) I don't believe there was any malice in there. I tried to keep it tongue in cheek myself.

Although I think I'm a ways off going to any of the Corvette meets due to overwhelming pressure of work (yuk), if I ever do, I'll buy you a beer to show no-harm-done :-)

Oh, and I also apologise for the comment about the TV, even though it was meant to be tongue in cheek, too. Our joke is that the Z06 engineers went to so much effort to lighten the car, skimming the windshield glass, removing the CD changer, spare tyre etc, only to have the two of us get in, weighing in at over 500lbs together :-) I think we were outside the 'design envelope'.

Okay, that's probably enough 'cap in hand'. Again, I apologise for raising hackles. Not my intention.

Thanks for such a gracious apology! I apologise myself if I inadvertently offended you!

With regard to the TV - I can't help myself but to modify my cars. I'm planning (once I've completed the most painful house move ever!) to whack a couple of turbos on my vette. Based on that, I'm not too worried about carrying a few extra pounds in stereo equipment (15" Sub and 2 amps may add a bit too...).

Right now the biggest modification I need to do is to install myself in the driver's seat. My poor girl hasn't done many miles since we hit the shores of Blighty and spends too many hours stuck under a cover, sulking.

She was a daily driver when we were living in the States and she's a bit young to be relegated to a weekend toy! The perils of living in London...

Whaaaa!? I live in London (well, nearly - Sunbury at the moment!), and my Vette is my daily driver!

Get it out!!!

It'll be better soon - we're moving out toward Reading so things will be a bit more peaceful!

Ah, the problem isn't so much that we're in London so much as that there's no parking anywhere near my office. Option a) is to drive (about 45 minutes in bumper to bumper traffic) then park about a 15 minute walk from the office. Option b) is to take a train, door-to-door travelling time being 30m...

Still, she likes the run to Sainsbury's... okay... that's too depressing...

An acquaintance of mine installed rear parking sensors in his 2001 Z28. He used Nissan sensors I believe and said it was reasonably straightforward apart from stripping off the rear bumper which was a pain. he had a full photo set covering installation following which I lapsed into a coma until he stopped talking.

You will also be close to the "Basingstoke Posse" of Corvette owners!

If (and I want it to be a when) I own a Z06 I'd love to have all of those extras in the car.

LOL @ Colvette.

First time I've heard that stereotype about the owners, only one about the owners I've heard is that all owners are rednecks, which is about the most ignorant comment I've ever heard w/ no justification...no surprise, though, as it's a stereotype at the end of the day.
