Given the weekend revolves around July 4th, and as far as I can see it doesn't clash with any CCCUK events, just wondering how many Corvette owners amongst PH are considering www.pistonfest.com this year ???????

As with every event at Avon Park, it looks expensive. Also a strange venue if you take into account you can't use the track and there's an NHRA drag race meeting going on. There's not a whole lot of room and it's like a big pits area. I may still go if I get bored but I'm not convinced. The main reason for holding events there (like the ACW Meet this weekend) is to use the track for a bit of drag racing. However, I've never been to one so may be missing the point.

The track in is dirty and not very level for those with low suspension unless they're holding it in a separate field.

LuS1fer- we've got our own area allocated, completely seperate to the pits, but within good walking distance (200yds or so) to the grandstands.

Regarding the racing, there will be an announcement soon that may put a smile on your face.

Indeed we are in a seperate field, with seperate access, so we won't be using the in-road that you refer to.

So maybe you could break your journey, stop off at PF en-route up to Elvington, as some others are doing. Enjoy the fun & games, sink a few sherbets with us, then head on up North on the Sunday morning?

Well I've just come back from the American Car World Nats at Avon Park. Blazing sun, an amazing selection of extremely fast cars running 7's, 8's, 9's and 10's over the quarter while I strolled up the strip in 13.8 (again). Fantastic day. The Firestorm car ran in the 6's at 240 odd mph. First time I've seen it run properly. Awesome.

Gulp! That must need more than a few horsepower!

Firestorm was running at PF last year to......there's talk that there will be a head to head with them both this year.

Does this mean that you've changed your mind?

Changed my mind about using Firestorm as a commuter to spare the Camaro?

LuS1fer,

Saw your Z at Avon Park on Sunday, the photos don't do it justice, it's the sharpest looking Z28 I've seen by far. The grille, stripes and wheels make one heck of difference.

Don't know if you saw me, I was racing on Saturday (black ZR-1)in the Street Machine Street Racers round.

I wasn't there Saturday. There was a black ZR1 with gold wheels running on Sunday which seemed to be posting some nice fast times. Supercharged?

The one on Sunday was ZR1368, he runs 12.2/120+ on street tyres, no blower or nitrous. 11 second car if it's set up for dragging, which it isn't.

Some good racing on Sunday, get well soon wishes to Wayne Saunders, and congrats to Jon Webster etc for building a car so strong it probably saved Wayne's life! Good to see you again Richard, hope the clutch is ok. Waiting to hear again from Joe! Good runs from Binky, especially against Streetman, and I have to say that although I don't usually like the LS1 Camaro, Lusifers is the best looking I have seen. I just might have to get some silver stripes on my 97 SS!! The wheels are fantastic too, have been watching American Hotrod where theyshowed some being made by BC, awesome!

Hi Heather, clutch seems OK so far thanks! I'll be testing it again this Saturday at the Pod (next round of the Street Machine Street Racers).

Hope to see you guys again soon.

Spoke to Joe last night, Louis broke the car again! Coasted across the line and still managed a 12.3!

What broke on Joe's car - clutch again??

When will his Recovery Service figure out that whenever they are called out to him (or Cliffy), it is always within a mile of a drag strip!!!
