The new game FUEL from Codemasters looks pretty good, just like the old Smugglers Run for the PS2 that I really enjoyed. Should be out in a couple of weeks...

Ooooh will have to look at that.
Smugglers Run (I had the one on GameCube) was ace!
I never tired of jumping in the buggy and doing free run! driving

Looks good, do you think we'll be getting a demo?

It's not on the PS Store this week, so I doubt it - normally the demos arrive a while before the game is ready...

Saying that, we got a Race Driver GRID demo and this is the same software house...

Looks like a follow-up to the PC game 1NSANE that Codemasters did a while back, a good laugh and decent game that I thik can be downloaded for free now.

Quite looking forward to this.

That certainly does look really good with graphics and gameplay to match.

I shall certainly be looking forward to this!

I played Fuel quickly a while back at a event, it feels like it runs off the grid/dirt engine and is a great laugh.

Heard a few people suggesting it's bland, boring, too many loading screens and just brings nothing new or fresh to the table at all.A simple arcade racer with a big open world.Long and short of it, if you want more open word/off road 'sim' type racing, get Baja, if you think Outrun is quite sim like, get FUEL biglaugh

I hope they've done something about the loading screens, I've got Dirt and Grid and enjoy them both but would probably have played them a lot more if there weren't the delays before every race with the pointless stats.

They've really dropped the ball with it, quite a shame as it looked like it had potential and I was looking forward to trying it, the reviews have been mostly poor.

Motorstorm Pacific Rift or Pure are the ones to buy.

I got my copy just yesterday and to be honest, I'm actually really enjoying it. So far, I've only played the career mode and challenges and yet to play on live. But Graphically, Playability and Lifespan is well above average (IMO).

I'd highly recommend it, or atleast worthy of a butchers.

One thing, I don't listen to reviews, as most of these people are idiots and the only person in this thread who has ACTUALLY played the game said it was good.

Ok petal wink

Ang' on, you won't take any notice of the growing list of people who have played the game, reviewed it (often in a professional capacity) and then let the world know it's very average, but you will listen to one person on a forum who has played it and likes it? Interesting way of doing things hehe

It's deffo a try before you buy matey, that's all I am saying. It just struck me as odd that it's obviously a very, very average game, many people are disappointed and some are suggesting they won't even go back to it after only 10 mins of play (watch ebay fill up with em), the price is dropping on it as we speak (never a good sign), but you hear one small piece of good news amongst a lot of bad/not so good and that's enough for you to buy it! The way you said: "Finally a bit of positive reaction for FUEL" makes it sound like you also have been waiting for it to be released just as many others have, but you may well be disappointed, too.Try before you buy Sir.Take notice of the people who have played it!! Also, remember there are those who will suggest a game is better than it is, just because they are trying to justify their expense! At least a review site or magazine etc will have been sent a copy for free biggrin

I did read one really good review btw, but it was more to do with the fact it took the guy 6 real time hours to drive from one side of the map to the other.

I bought it on Friday and have played a bit, definately a bargain bucket buy in a few months time.
The loading screens take forever even with the game saved to the hard drive and by this I mean a frustrating amount of time.
The game itself is ok for an arcade racer and there is a good variety of cars, bikes and buggies along with a vast and great looking gameplay area. So far all of the career and challenges have been ridiculously easy but there does seem to be a lot of life in the game.
I you enjoyed Grid and Dirt for what they were and don't go looking for a simulation type racer it'll do the trick. Ideal game just to turn on, blast about for 20 minutes and then turn off again.
I've yet to do any multiplayer or online stuff but to be fair the Race Pro time trial is taking up more Xbox time than this new game yet.

Rating from my limited time with it so far - 6/10

Game reviews are rather subjective though Digby! wink

I've played some real st over the years that reviewers were absolutely raving about; to the point I thought their parents must have thrown them down the stairs at an early age....

Most of the 'Review' 'ers have an agenda and or sponsorship. Very few are genuinely unbiased and objective.

Last time I took note Edge and to a slightly lesser extent, other than being Nintendo Fanboys, Gamesmaster were the only true Reviewers.

That is from my back in the day opinion though.
