Is there anything more ridiculous to be a fan of?
A plastic box of wires and circuit boards, you may as well be a fan of a toaster or your wall clock.
Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo don't care about you... they just want your money.
Why do people defend consoles like it's a member of their family? It's just an inanimate object.
The consoles don't even actually do anything, it's the games that we play and thats all a really consider when I purchase a console.... which has the games I want and which will allow me to enjoy them best.
At the moment I have a 360 because it has the games I want to play, when the PS3 has some exclusives I want to play then I will buy one, I had a Wii but didn't enjoy it so traded it in.
Recently with the PS3 and 360 debates we seem to have slipped back to the bad old days of the PS, Saturn and Amiga with people literally going mental about an injection moulded plastic case. Maybe it's because Digitiser is long gone and the stupidity of console zealots has been allowed to grow without being lampooned by Mr Biffo.

Boring isn't it?
I think it mainly stems out of the younger generations, who have to decide on one console to have mummy and daddy buy them and as such they then become fervent blinkered supporters of whichever console they have chosen, as to compliment the "enemy" is to admit your choice was inferior.

Yeah I did think about this, car fanboys are idiots but at least you do actually drive your car and enjoy it. I just go for best of both worlds. A decent gaming PC for online stuff like Battlefield and RTS games, and the PS3 for all the racing/sony exclusives. I did have a 360 as well but found that most of the games that were "xbox only" ended up hitting PC and being 100000x better so got shot of it in the end. Tempted to grab another one though as games like Forza 3, the Halo games and crackdown dont seem to hit PC (Halo was due to but they decided against it)

I had to decide which one I wanted to buy as at the time I could only afford one, and I had to pay for it myself 
It is slightly inaccurate to say it's only the way to play the game though, as there are sometimes differences on the same game released on different consoles, and I for one just cannot use a Playstation controller, not sure why, I just can't. Which is the main reason I got a 360.

I got my PS3 on release day and since then, luckily, all my mates have traded their xbox's in for PS3's...saved ourselves having any of these arguments.
