A Local Hairdressers...
Discussion
My local town is a bit of a football WAG central, and has attracted quite a few of the top hair 'salons'; Toni & Guy, Andrew Collinge etc.
Each is quite well placed on the main thoroughfare and make good use of their shop fronts, with T&G in particular having very eye catching model shots in their windows.
One of the hair salons that has been established for quite some time seems to be able to hold its own against these larger competitors, and is actually better positioned than either of the other two, BUT its model photos are laughably bad. So bad that I've almost crashed my car laughing at them...
See for yourself: http://www.cbhair.co.uk/MCA.htm#
The shots displayed in the window of the salon are on the second row down, and having now looked at the site, it appears the owner of the store does his own photography - not entirely surprising!
Firstly, should I contact them for crimes against the eyes?
Secondly, does anybody else have any dodgy examples close to them?

Thirdly, can you do better?
Might be a few quid in it for you
Might be a few quid in it for you
I was aware it could come over like that, and while I'm sure there is suitable budget to be relieved (;)), I have neither the talent nor the inclination!
A) I'd make an even worse hash, and B) Why bother when there is so much talent out there who won't charge ££££?
I just wonder what goes through peoples minds, and why a friend hasn't had a word...

There was a sign in the window of my local hairdresser when I lived in Kilburn - always made me laugh... "We specialise in all styles"

Just the man!As you're only about an hour away, why don't you give them a shout and offer to shoot for them?
At least that way you could save me from wrapping my car round the nearest lamppost while in hysterical fits of laughter...

might give them a tinkle,if only to save you writing your car off ;-)
The reason why the models aren't that professional is that lot of hairdressers use their clients as models, as very few professional models will let you cut their hair.
My friend who owns a salon sometimes flies out to Eastern Europe for his model shoots as there the model are more willing to allow them to cut their hair.
Also, I expect, unless they are involved in shows etc the average hairdressing salon can't afford the 16k required twice a year for a good shoot every time they change their look.
Yes the website is a bit pants however.

I've just finished a website for a hair salon and you are right about the images of models being mostly clients. I had to work with images supplied by the salon rather than photos I had taken, and though it is possible to work with these it would have been much easier to work with pro quality shots.
Those shots are awful. Reminds me of this local photographer, click his portrait gallery www.roybreeden.co.uk/ . If he makes ANY money from photography these days I'm going to shoot myself.
