Once again the motorist has to bend over whilst Tony's crony's have their fun.

When's the government going to realise all they need do is put a couple of pence on a gallon of petrol - no-one escapes the tax and they don't waste money administering chasing people!! - making criminals out of decent people as usual - wedge stays... they can chase me in court for that sort of money....!

this is classic scare tactic, publish some outrageous claim then only do something half as bad so 'you've got off lightly...'

Would I sell - in a word NO.

But I would join any protest going ..

Plus no way would I pay that - I'd claim it off road
(in me garage..) and just use it occasionally like I do and don't pay the tax.

The fines are always less than the tax anyway !

FK that!!!! Would i pay it? NO. Vote the blood suckers out i say. I used to ticket/report people for failing to display a valid VEL in my previous life. I would certainly join in and avoid paying myself now I don't believe this bloody country..!

I think this thread (line) has caught a crab.
For cods sake, stop being rudd about the government and Tony, eel have a whale of a time until someone hits him with their mullet and knocks him off his perch! Look what happened to Salmon Rushdie!

Now going for a kip(per)

I can see it now, 60+ wedges protesting outside the Houses of Parliament. We'd make news at ten!

No, I won't sell the wedge. But I might go on a shotgun rampage in the Houses of Parliament! (Just kidding, officer!)

Whether it's true or not (and I agree with the view that an increase is probably in the offing if this type of scare story has been issued), this is just another case of the government taxing an easy target, i.e. the motorist. It's all very well harping on about the environment, congestion, and "getting people out of their cars", but what's the alternative? Non-existent and crumbling public transport? I live on the A5 in Northamptonshire, and even on that major road there are only 2 buses a day. The first of those is at 9.15am (really useful for work!), and the only time I tried to catch it it drove straight past me and the other people at the bus stop. If I did manage to catch one, the journey would take 2 hours minimum to work. By car it's 30 minutes. By wedge its even less (ahem!)

Anyway, sack the lot of them, that's what I say!

Right, rant over, I feel much better now. Nurse, where are my pills...?!

Oh, and I'm sorry about the lack of fish jokes in this - I promise to do better next time!
