The New Ginetta G50
Discussion
Anyone know if Ginetta plan on producing the new G50 as a road going car?
Ginetta used to build great cars for both road and track. But their website seems to indicate that they are only really interested in the race track these days. or am I getting it wrong.
The road going G20r is not really a road car. It is just the race car with lights and the G20 GT4 coupe just looks so badly produced with door hinges from B&Q that it is hard to take it seriously.
Mind you I think that they are missing a trick with the G50. Instead of having a ford V6 lump in the front, they could get a 300bhp Honda 4 pot engine mid mounted with 6speed gear box and the radiator/cooling in the front like the Elise/Exige which I guess would be cheaper to build and a very quick car.
Mind you fron the pictures they are still tryig to work out if they are having doors or not?

As far as im aware they're mainly concentrating on the motorsport side of things only to achieve recognition, lets face it theyre still an unheard of manufacture even today!
(we all know what happened to the likes of Dutton and TVR)
Mind you, Ginetta is all about getting back to basics simple engineering that you can achieve and fix yourself.
I suppose thats were the Ford engine/base comes in, their pretty much off the shelf (kinda british) with no 10week waiting for parts from Japan. Its comman knowledge they've been using Ford parts over the past century and just maybe their sticking with tradition? Personally I vote in favour of this.
With that its a car you can roll straight of the driveway or trailer and enjoy! For me I wouldnt want anything else.

It looks a lot more like a Panoz than a Ginetta.I have to say I quite like that, bearing in mind it's not finished - they could evolve a road car from this shape. Even the dash shape looks well thought out (digital going in there?)
Panoz influence?
Bound to be some but to me it looks like a superb progression from the G20 (which anyone knows, I am no big fan of).
TVR gone, looks like someone is about to fill that gap.
What with the brilliant showcase of the G4 at Goodwood and now this, they have my backing.
Surprised to see nothing in the m/press this week about it (unless I missed it). Ok, just seen it was in Motorsport News (should have known - but was it anywhere else?)
