Tuscan v Boxster

Ive got £30k plus burning a hole in my pocket do i get a nice sensible,reliable Boxster s or chance my arm on a hooligan Tuscan? Help needed as ive heard so many scare stories regarding Tuscans ie:they go wrong.Do TVR have any warranty available at cost on a used TVR?
Im wondering if alot of the bad reports about Tuscans come from people who cant afford one and are maybe a little jealous.Ive got an M3 evo at the moment,should i keep it? I just cant make up my mind!

Get a tuscan, more fun than german things and far nicer sound. It may go wrong from time to time but then no car on the road is perfect including all german makes. If your prepared for a few problems it wont be half as difficult to swallow. Plus a tuscan is far mor exclusive and unique in its styling. In the end though only you can decide.
Depends what you're going to use the car for. I have an S and it just isn't as quick as my TVR. It IS fun though and is rock solid reliable. The roof comes off quickly at every available opportunity - great.
The Tuscan WILL be more trouble (sorry chaps but its true) but goes like hell in comparison and will induce that TVR Grin (I have a Chimaera and know it well!) People I know and trust have them and have found them as reliable as any TVR. (Some fettling required but nothing to stop you)
Stories on this site differ though!

One word of caution, a Porker is going to cost you the same amount as a TVR to run! Sounds daft, but when you consider simple things like servicing (£1000 for the major) and tyres (expensive ones) they work out very similar.
This does of course depend on the reliability of either, but do be warned that Porsche main dealers have some of the most expensive hourly rates around! A friend of mine as a Boxster (loves it by the way) but has had to spend £3K in two months on tyres and servicing - and there was nothing wrong with it. Couple that with the small dent in the front wing that was quoted to be £2k to fix, they are just as expensive.
Cant really go to a specialist with a Porsche yet - too new. I guess you cant with a Tuscan either, but either way enjoy it.

WOW! What the hell went wrong there? I just did my annual service. Less than 300 quid at AFN Reading (OPC)! Full set of new boots at Micheldever is only £800 for PZero Asimetrico jobbies.

You are truly a brave man. If you think you are going to get an honest comparison of TVRs and Porsches on this forum then you must be on a different planet to the rest of us.
Porsches are for one thing and one thing only - overtaking whilst driving a TVR.

TVRs (Tamora and Tuscan included) are a completely different drive to anything else - it depends on what you're after. I imagine a Boxster will feel slower than your Evo, but similar in feel. The TVRs will feel much more like a track car for the road - and in the case of the Tuscan, will have a much bigger boot.
Go have a drive of both, and have fun!

I thought of this question myself. Just sold my Cerbie and wanted a £30K convertible. Just as I was leaning towards the Porker I remembered that I only use the car for fun. If I was using it every day the porker might win but rarity, noise, and performance won the day and I ordered a Tamora!!!
Make sure you drive both the Tuscan and the Tamora before you make up your mind. Tuscan brilliant in a straight line but the Tamora handles like an elise with power, thats why the motoring press has gone ga-ga over it.
The real bonus is that it's cheaper.
However, buy what you like best and don't compromise, is my best advice or you will always wonder if you should have bought "the other car"

After driving an Elise for 3 years, I now ordered a Tuscan 3.6.
Before I made this decision,I've made a test drive with both Porsche Boxster S and TVR Tuscan 4.0.
The Porsche is not giving the same thrills as the Tuscan. The TVR is a much
rawer sportscar, and has much more character. It is also very exclusive compared to a Boxster (especially in Europe).
The Porsche is also a fast car with a
fantastic roadholding, but does not give that special feeling that you get when driving a Tuscan.
So make a testdrive with both before you order one : it will all depend of
what you expect from a sportscar.
