Am off to the 'Ring on June 24 and a mate's 30th birthday is while we are away and wanted to book a lap to scare the sh*t out of him, and for me to see how good the New M5 is!

I know as have done before, that you could do this at the ticket office the same day if there were spaces available, but have been told that it now needs to be booked up.

Do any PH'ers know any different or have the mail address for the office or the website?

You would be *very* lucky to get it - it is booked out many many months in advance.

The best to hope for is a cancellation on the day - but don't hold your breath.

Might be better to try and arrange a lap with a know good car/driver who will be there at the time.

I had a feeling that would be the case, but thought it would be worth a shot, and in any case, I'm back out there for the Old Timer GP in august, so will try to book then, just need the details.

Convince Achim that your mate needs a ride in the RingMini.

That bloke is a loon. Has is still got the V-Tec engine in it?

I remember him coming past a friend and I in his 928 just before the mini-karussel, he just threw it in and out with such casual aplomb and carrying so much speed, that sight of it just made me burst out laughing!

The van and the pickup both have VTEC 1.6's and the Pickup has the addition of 4WD

He's quicker than Sabine in the wet by all accounts...

Why don't you phone the Tiergarten Hotel, which is run by Sabine's mother and sister? Sabine is sometimes around as well. 0049 269 192 200

Easy tiger.

You'd have to catch her first, and by the way the woman can drive a car, that could be tricky.

We were at the 'ring on Sunday and met an American guy asking for directions to the Ring Taxi office. Didn't have a booking, just turning up on the off chance. Saw him later on and he got a cancellation - got a lap with Sabine and no-one else in the car. In fact, there was another space he could have taken also.

My advice is, turn up, get to the office for 10am and get your name down, chances is, you'll get a go.

Sabine has lapped the 'ring over 15,000 times now - guess she knows it quite well!

not cheap though yesterday price was 170 euro's per lap person in the M5, and to be honest it didnt look any faster than some of the other cars on track, although they do get the back ends out

we watched Sabine arrive on sunday in a shiney red 360 Modena and do a warm up lap, before jumping into the M5
(have you seen the size of them rear brakes/discs !!)

"a few Taxi facts. The tyres are changed after 10 laps. The brakes are changed after 20 laps, and the car gets a full inspection at the same time (this is the reason it can only do 20 laps a day)."

and Sabine used to have to change the wheels herself - poor love!
Apparently - the setup on the new M5 is much better and the tyres now last two whole days! Although when I followed it for a while, all I saw was gross understeer!
