Has anybody used an overseas watch seller on Chrono24? Seen something I fancy (brand new, box, papers etc.) at a really good price but the shop is in Monaco.
Never dealt with them before so wanted to get peoples views on how reputable sellers on Chrono24 are. Any comments appreciated.

Purchased successfully several watches in Italy, Spain, Germany and UK.
No issues. One or two Dealers weren't that good at comms - delete before sale.
One Dealer failed to dispatch/deliver on time - delete/cancel order. Got money back with no issues.
I like Trusted status with Bricks & Motar cross-check on the Interweb
Comms assist if Dealer is looking to really sell and usually bend-over-backwards.
Pay with Credit Card (Always)
Pay into C24 Escrow (Always)
Video the unpacking with a solid reference to a time/date. Single take, no editing.
Show intact parcel.
Open courier docs first
See anything you dont like...try and state there and then if you can.
i.e. unexpected detrimental condition
Auto that wont start on a flick or quick wind etc..
So far all 100% to expectation with me.

I have used Chrono24 for purchases overseas, but did it a different way.
Had been looking for a specific watch for about a year, but only found them in places I wasn't confident ordering from. Then one came up on Chrono24 in Milan. Decided that was worth a long weekend in Milan!
Watch was absolutely as described - pristine. Exchange rate was better back then, so watch + weekend still cost me less than I would have paid in the UK - even if I could have found one.

Link to an older thread as I CBA to retype the same advice:

I've bought from Chrono24. For me it was a very significant sum, my most costly watch. I researched the seller, who was a bricks and mortar jeweller in Holland. I checked the shop existed using google maps to do a 'drive by', then checked the phone numbers matched on Chrono24 and the shops website, then finally called to confirm the advert really was placed by them.
Chrono24 is just a marketplace. Do not be tempted to assume Chrono24's use of the word "Trusted" means that you should trust freely. Treat with extreme caution and you'll be fine.

Rather than start a new post...
Am I right in thinking that non dealer / non trusted seller have absolutely no protection should something go wrong or the watch turn out to be fake?!
If you checkout through them, the funds are held in escrow until you receive the watch and are happy for the funds to be released to the seller.Am I right in thinking that non dealer / non trusted seller have absolutely no protection should something go wrong or the watch turn out to be fake?!
Thread resurrection, just in case this helps anyone who is thinking of selling on Chrono24.
I put my Speedmaster Pro on Chrono24 a few weeks back and after a load of time waster bids from buyers in Germany, Italy, Spain and Denmark, I got a great price from an Australian buyer (£2.9k for a 2006 watch, in decent condition with box and papers). I know I will have to pay the 6% fee but C24 could not have been more helpful or communicative.
I used Fedex to send the package to Australia. Total cost including the insurance up to £2,900 with no excess was £115, delivery time of 6 days.
Fingers crossed it all goes to plan. I made notes of serial numbers etc, so hopefully that will reduce the chance of a fake being returned to me by a deceitful purchaser! I will update the thread next week, hopefully with good news.

That's right, I bought two very expensive watches an Omega from Greece and a Vacheron Constantin from Italy through Chrono 24. Both were perfect as described and neither fake. As you say they hold the money until you are happy.Gassing Station | Watches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
