IWC talk to me..........
Discussion
Guys just got back off the Hols Via Dubai where I spent a great day perusing over all the watches I've had my eye on![angel](/inc/images/angel.gif)
So after trying on and feeeeeeling as much as I could
I have narrowed it down to 2,either an IWC 371806 or 371702 I have absolutely fallen for the both of them, my question is IWC for me felt great but where are they in the watch world ?? (sorry but a Tag man at the mo' so I no nothing
)
Its a lot of hard earned and want to know if nows the time ??
Cheers

Well I think they are definitely in the higher echelons of watch makers, not Patek of course, but I'd rate them above Tag etc.
Mind you I'm biased and bought a Portofino 3 years ago, it's fabulous, completely love it, nicely subtle and above all classy. I think the Spitfire is similar.
Still saving for the Portuguese!

IWC are right up there and generally much better regarded than Tag. Perhaps a little overpriced for what you get IMO but what you get is a very well put together movement and for the most part really nice understated style. If you like them and have the money you won't be disappointed.![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)

I've had an IWC Pilots Chrono for about a year. Top quality in my book. It's taken a few knocks (inadvertently) and taken them well. Strap is good, I'm thinking of going for a Toshi when this one keels over.
Would definitely recommend the brand. Only wish the Pilot Chrono was a bit more waterproof. But there's always an Aquatimer for that.

Great watches. The split seconds versions (your first model number) are a fair bit bulkier than the ones not so equipped, so try both on before pulling the trigger.
The ceramic ones are nice too, though I think you can only get the "Top Gun" model (which I couldn't buy on principle!).

I've owned the 371702 for over two years and it is a super watch. It gets comments from people who know their watches without "shouting" at them and all and sundry. I have it on the bracelet which in my humble opinion sets it off perfectly. I suppose the only let-down is that it does not have its own movement, but just the same, it's a keeper.

Also own the same watch.. Never seen another person wearing one, as I know they tend to keep production numbers down.. A great watch, which will stay in my collection...Would definitely recommend the brand. Only wish the Pilot Chrono was a bit more waterproof. But there's always an Aquatimer for that.

Same here, have both bracelet and strap and switch between them when I fancy a change . . . wear it every day and it's taken the knocks pretty well . . . I'm not a watch buyer to hide in the bedroom display, I buy em to wear em and it's doena bloody good job.It could be a bit more accurate, and it does need a service to sort a stalling chrono function, but I am far from easy going on my watches and for a full automatic I'm very impressed.
Was presenting to our MD the other morning and noticed he wears the previous Pilot Chrono, funny watching him watching my wrist for an hour . . .

Always had a soft spot for IWCs, bought a 3717 a couple of years back but always had my eye on a Big Pilot. I quite fancy adding an Aquatimer to the collection soon.
Some BP love:

My only issue is the BP which is slightly light unless you go platinum which i wouldnt. Love the crown and face etc proper bo!!!
I have been lusting after a Pilot 17810033 for the last few months and came very close to buying one in terminal 4 yesterday (£3261), they also had an Aquatimer 17810202 in Titanium for £5131 which was also rather fetching. I have to have something with a bracelet as I dont want to have to keep taking it off for the shower etc.

Thanks so far guys, next ? Is the 806 really worth ££ more than the 702 ?? Cheers
If you want the split seconds function. And a lot more heft on your wrist...![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
Come on then, wheres the best deals ??
Cheers
As regards the size, it is larger than it seems. I have a Monster which theoretically is the same size but with the big divers bezel the actual watch face is actually larger on the IWC than the Seiko. Here's the IWC:-

I don't have big wrists but I am sure you'd be pleased with the IWC. I tried on the Big Pilot at the shop and frankly it is very alrge and you need very big wrists to wear it. On me it was obscene and was well over both sides of the wrist. Try both on before you decide.
