Just wondering really what healthy snacks they have in their drawers at work to nibble on mid-morning/afternoon?

Other than the obvious things such as fruit/veg..

Total rip off! Sorry to say it but I tried them a couple of months ago and one of the containers was just full of dust.

I've tried to combine the 'joy of snacks' and healthy eating in the office but have come to the conclusion that it doesn't work.

Nuts are full of calories.
Rice cake based crisp thingies are full of salt and not that low on calories once you get going.
Biscuits is biscuits regardless of their oat-count.
You can get very bored with sun-dried tomatoes.
Even raisins will rack up the calories before too long.

If and when I'm on a health drive I ensure there is a bag of nice fresh apples by my side. And try to focus on exercise endorphins rather than my favoured carnival of crispypotatosalt.

Thanks.

Look at you playing the sarcasm trumpet.

The point being that many foodstuffs which we see as 'healthy' and might be tempted to dive into as an alternative to 'junk food' aren't particularly helpful when one is trying to set up a calorie deficit.

Ergo its best to abandon all hope and face up to the misery of watery fruit and Frazzles abstinence.

frown -Regardez -a sad smiley, see what you made me do?

edited because I couldn't spell smiley.

My London office has baskest of fresh fruit and bowls of brazil nuts and unsalted cashews delivered every day. As most of my colleagues there are fat knackers who stuff their faces with "choclit", it means some of us get to benefit more when we're there! thumbup

Sorry, tis the lowest form of wit indeed.

From my point of view I needed to find something that a) I actually wanted to eat(I'm a fussy bugger) and b) kept me filled up until lunch when eaten around 10am.

I realise that nuts are not an ideal snack unless you are fully aware of the fat content and ration accordingly, but they fill both criteria above, and provide me a good dose of fibre, which is lacking in my diet generally.

I'm taking my crisp cold-turkey out on you. Not your fault.

In fact, as long as the exercise is happening nuts are pretty good in terms of their protein and vitamin content too.

Exercise is next on my agenda, I was rather under weight a couple of years ago and have now brought myself back up to where I want to be.

Now want to start exercising so I can maintain the status quo.

Very generous of you, but I think they still sell out venues.

Carrots are good, peeled, cut into battons, wrapped in cling film.

Good to munch on, stops me from eating Snickers.

11am, tune with a low-fat mayo

lunch- ham sarnie (or chicken, or tuna, or anything else high in protein) on brown bread, with either low fat hummus, or garlic mushrooms (both home made).

4pm- chicken. no skin.

evening meal. High in protein, low in carbs/fat.

Raisin/apricot/cranberry wheat cereals. Can be eaten dry as a snack or add milk.
