Excellent dinner and Huntsman Towers tonight, gammon steaks, fried eggs and home made chips, what we would call a proper cowboy dinner!

What should we do with the used sunflower oil? Pour it down the sink?

let it cool, pour it into a pop bottle, lid back on then in the bin.

definitely not down the sink - it can clog your drains.

Surely you just let it cool and our it back into the bottle to use again? Certainly don't discard it after one use.

Make bird feeders. Take muesli, crushed biscuits, cornflakes, sunflower seeds, oats, stale bread etc etc and mix the oil with it to make balls of food. Hang them in your garden using netting like you get with oranges etc and the birds will love it!

Sunflower oil doesnt set, so how does this work? I guess you have to major on the bread.

Personally I would strain it back into the bottle when cool, if not used again after a week or so I would ditch it in the bin.

you shouldn't re-use vegetable oil - everytime you re-use it the amount of saturated fats and other nasty things increases, so it stops being the healthy option and you might as well use lard.

You don't mix in a lot of oil, just enough to bind the ingredients together enough to make a ball. It does work! and yes, more bread helps.

Let it cool. Pour it into a disposable container. Put it in the freezer for a couple of days. Then put it in your outside bin the day the binmen appear. That way you don't get any leaks of oil anywhere and your drive doesn't get covered in crap when the bins are moved.

Give it to me, I'll make a huge mess with it trying to pour it into the filler neck of my OH's 306, all for a saving of about 40p over buying diesel.
