Racing at Croft this weekend , camping at the circuit Fri/Sat night.
Never been before , so can anyone who's familiar with the place, offer advice..
What can we expect from the facilities , can you get a decent shower ,pint ,meal ?
Are the khazi's ok or something from the Crimean war ?
Is electric hook up readily available or will we be using the generator ?
From the drawing on the website, it looks like the paddocks are tarmac/grass - do you park car transporter/trailer on the grass (i.e for setting up race shelter and tent) or is it hard standing ?
Wont be testing , so (as usual - unfortunately) will be learing the circuit in qually - any hints or tips - anything to be especially aware of ?
Any advice greatfully recieved.

I don't rate Croft much in terms of facilities, toilets aren't on a par with other circuits and it's portaloos if your down the runway bit of the paddock - especially if you're nearer the Sunny In / Out corners.
Didn't camp at the circuit although I don't think theres electrics available. Not aware of any showers either. Plenty of space available you will get on some tarmac to set up.
Croft on Tees is about a mile or two from the circuit plenty of pints available there.
Northallerton is about 10 miles away and is where I've stayed, nightlife is OK there!
Nice track to race on though, only once have I raced there so experience is limited. I would say stay off the kerb at the first corner, it just throws you off your line. Beware of deep ruts on the exit kerbs of the chicane, between Sunny In and Out and after Sunny Out. Can easily bend axles etc.

Fantastic circuit. main paddock and outer paddock are all hard standing..

circuit... off the top of my head first corner is fairly grippy, watch you dont get pushed into the tyres at teh first chicane, for the big right hander, set the turn onec about mid track and keep the lock constant, and you'll come out positioned perfectly for the next chicane..
watch the next right hander ( tower) as it comes back on its self so easy to oversteer of. Jim clark S is fast, treat sunny in and sunny out as one corner, and as said avoid the ends of the kerbs as there are holes in the ground. I hit one and split a tuscan rim in 2!!!
You'll have fun though great circuit, and fast in a Tuscan

It depends which paddock you are in. Pits and top paddock (I think its called A) have electric, the airfield doesn't. Toilets are rubbish, not sure about showers, and there is no where on site to get a pint.
I would agree that it is a great circuit, just has crap facilities. On the plus side it is only 10 mins from Yarm, which is a very good night out and IIRC they cant start racing until 12pm on Sunday!

Agreed with most (if not all) mentioned above - although I live a short distance away so might be biased.
The facilities aren't great due to local planning/expanding issues; the toilets and showers are Portakabins rather than buildings. There is normally a burger van but possibly not the night before - other options are the Croft Hotel in Croft-on-Tees village, the pub in Dalton (opposite the track on the A167) or heading into Northallerton, Yarm or Darlington.

The track I find quite challenging - a mix of technical areas (from Sunny onto the main straight) and fast sweeping bends (Tower down through Jim Clarks into Sunny). Definitely worth a track walk beforehand!

Sorry to hijack the thread - a mate and I are seriously thinking about the Northern Sports and Saloons for next year - could we hunt you out on Sunday and have a chat about it (usual - costs, what the classes are like etc.)?Agree with all said before. The facilities like the above mentioned arent the best but you can get a hot shower and the toilets are reasonable. If you were looking for something plush you would be in a motorhome i would have thought.
Dalton is a 15 min walk back toward probably the way you turned in off the main road, and Chequers is the pub there, decent pint and scran.
NSSCC is a good bet if your in BCDF classes, there are a lot more numbers as apose to the AEFG. Wont be there this weekend was hopeing to get to the double header in a couple of weeks but engine needs some work done after knockhill.If you give Leslel Starkey a phone she will be more than happy to chat about the northern sports.

Just got the timetable through and it's qually on Saturday and Race on Sunday.
i wish they'd made it clearer on the NSSCC website too! I may well be racing as i don't think my friend can make the sunday. Now to find out how late they can accept driver changes...........Or it's a wasted entry fee for my friend!

Croft turned out to be a great race circuit , and the facilities were'nt al that bad.
Should have tested really as learning in qually resulted in pretty abysmal times.
Learned a lot in the two races though, which should be good for next time.
Finishing both races with the car in one piece was the best result of the weekend
