Falling Skies - Will It Be any good?
Discussion
In the devastating aftermath of an alien invasion that took the life of his wife, Tom, the young father of three boys, struggles to protect his family and maintain his humanity while also helping to lead a desperate band of survivors and inexperienced resistance fighters. That's the premise I shall watch the pilot tonight if anyone's seen the show let me know if you think its any good
Saw the trailer for this last night and the one thing that's bugging me already is that the invaders appear to have multiple legs, like spiders, but then appear to have two legged robot walker thingies.
Surely they'd have more legs on the walkers?
Anyway, that aside, sky plus is set although I expect it to take a couple of episodes to get going.

I have watched the first couple and it is a question that is brought up in the show.I won't add my thoughts as to why it is the case to avoid spoilers.Surely they'd have more legs on the walkers?

Is it worth watching ?so far its ok but I would not be worried if I did miss an episode.

I shall find links my friends and luckily I knew ER was so fake I couldn't watch it so he's no a doc. That being said remember the dad from Malcolm In The Middle? Could you imagine him as a cold-blooded hoodlum? He does it very well so keep your mind open
Did you see him in Breaking Bad? Amazing as a tearaway in that as well.I've seen a couple of episodes. So far it's been pretty good but not amazing. The story starts pretty suddenly after earth has been invaded so I hope they fill in the backstory in later episodes as at the moment we literally know nothing about the motivations for the invasion and how it all started.
Also I heard that this was one of the most expensive series ever made but I can't really see how. When I heard this I was expecting movie level special effects but they really aren't. The mechs especially are decidedly ropey.

Well the mechs do look a little overlaid on live action to be fair but you have to consider the massive sets, special effects, stunts etc. I reeks of money the stories got a LOT of holes and I wish they started of at the beginning of the invasion rather than a few years into it but I guess this way they have more latitude in the story line but I feel like I jumped into the the middle of a series not the beginning. Also I heard that this was one of the most expensive series ever made but I can't really see how. Have to disagree about it reeking of money to be honest. Massive sets? Where, so far I've only seen a few run down buildings, a couple of stunts and as said the effects are decidedly ropey. Something like Game of Thrones looks 10 times more lavish in terms of money spent.I definately agree on the starting point though, seems very disjointed to be starting after the main event so to speak but a few other series seem to be following this method now. I guess it must be the latest trend in Hollywood so everyone is jumping on the bandwagon just like shaky cam a few years ago. I'm not too convinced myself. I'm a simple person, I like my stories to have a beginning, a middle and an end. All this jumping around flashbacks, flashforward blah blah does my head in.

Well I agree with you on the story for sure and it strikes me as one of those narratives that if you miss a few consecutive episodes you won't know anything that's going on.I definately agree on the starting point though, seems very disjointed to be starting after the main event so to speak but a few other series seem to be following this method now.
