I've only ever seen one or two films that have generally made me jump or wince.

Seeing Devil tomorrow and that isn't looking too promising really!

So what films out there have literally made you jump out of your seat?

No, it's called a mistake.

One scene in 'The Descent' nearly had me out of my seat.

Starts at about 1.20 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pm7udIu6_7c&fea... When I first saw it at the cinema it seemed worse...

I think the last movie that made me jump was Jeepers Creepers.

Only film which ever made me jump was The Exorcist when I was somewhere in the region of 8 or 9. I don't think much would make me flinch these days, outside of real world wrongness I hope I never have the misfortune of seeing.

Forget that scene - what about when the creature first appears properly?

Now you remind me, that was worse. Wasn't expecting it at all when it appears.

"Hush", was on Channel4 on Saturday night.

It wasn't particulally scary, and was funded by Film4 so no big name actors. The reason it was scary was because usually, a scary film is set in a big haunted house or in America. This was in England, on the M1 Motorway Services with what could actually be a true story (Its not.. I think..), with English actors.

Scared me anyway! hehe

I don't know if it's the cultural disconnection but the Asian horror films really freak me out. I caught a scene from One Missed Call the other night and even though I'd just flicked it over it was really unsettling. I decided to wait until I can watch the whole thing though since it was a good way into the film.

There was another on recently called The Eye which I also found deliciously unnerving. smile

Ring was mindbending at the time too, but its style and techniques have been milked to death by American film makers now, so it's impact has been diluted. frown

If you want truly unnerving, try "A Serbian Film"...

I dont really like horror films as they tend to make me jump alot.

The last one I watched that proper frightened me was Drag Me To Hell, yet most other people who watch it say they didnt find it scary at all.

Ah yes. The first time I saw Event Horizon I practically shat myself. It loses its power with repeat viewings like most. The first time I saw "Alien" was fairly exciting too. Especially as you knew bad things were going to happen to John Hurt's character..the anticipation was worse than the actual scene!

Isn't that that "torture porn" film that's been banned? I don't mind proper horror films, not these ones that only make you jump as that's not really scary, but I just don't see the point in films like Saw etc.
