Does anyone else find it a bit over the top, orwellian, and reminiscent of some kind of 1930s eugenics movement (well, actually even hitler didnt go so far as to carpet whole olympic stadiums in buzzwords like 'purity')
I know the Ukraine is supposed to be the new nazi republic and must have the diversity agenda rammed down their throats, but still, Its a bit nauseating.
Surely the point is it doesnt matter if youre a 'diverse' country like the US, or a 'pure' country like Japan, and yet one is so feverishly and over zealously marketed, its like the proponents of it are in need constant self assurance.
I only mention it as they forced one of the poor sods playing football yesterday to read out some marketing speak which he seemed utterly bewildered by.
Dont they understand people just want to watch football, not be bombarded with political propaganda. Its so ridiculous the stadiums look like some kind of set out of the film 'they live'

Personally I can't get too steamed up about the football authories trying to get their players and fans to concentrate on the sport rather than racially abusing one another. In fact it seems like rather a good idea to me if it means black players don't have to put up with bananas being thrown at them and monkey chants from the stands.

I don't think the campaign is just about the racial aspects though is it?AshVX220 said:

You're comparing adverts for respecting people of different races with a man who killed people of different races. Your analogy doesn't so much fall at the first hurdle as fail to turn up for the race.so even a campaign about respect(not just racism) is a problem and needs a thread? have they erected a billboard outside your home, work and hangout spot with their respect sign? i hope i never reach that stage in life where i watch a football match and feel all the signs with the word respect is "spiel" and i need to go have a chat with my cyber buddies on ph about it.
as i said on a thread in the sports forum, if they were serious about respect and fair play (the two go hand in hand) they would make football self-refereeing to the highest level. i.e. the players call the fouls, throw ins, corners, goals, etc. any disagreement and the teams debate it until they agree.

I concur. This concept of being offended, or taking issue, with every little thing that just doesn't warrant a reaction is completely beyond me.iphonedyou said:

Im saying the propaganda methods are the same. The point is we're all equal individuals. To be saying diversity is better than homogeneity is better than diversity is exactly the same thing. Both are obsessing over something which no attention should be paid to. Hitlers propaganda started long before he started killing people. In a few years or decades time maybe the type of people who consider individual's 'not diverse enough' will kill them too.
The thought process with the respect lot and the hitler lot is exactly the same.

The signs are there to promote respect and understanding; an area that, sadly, professional football scores rather lower than it should. That's all there is to it.The point is we're all equal individuals. To be saying diversity is better than homogeneity is better than diversity is exactly the same thing.
