She was told it was policy as there are foreign passengers on the flight and “it was seen as a threat”.
Threat to who?

My own experience of virgin Atlantic is either amazing service or absolute horror show. Nothing in between I'm afraid.

Why did she just not refuse to change. I'd have refused to change.

They told her she couldn't board unless she agreed to change, and she was returning to her unit in the US after compassionate leave so needed to get on the flight.

Odd story. When I was in the RN you could travel in uniform but it wouldn't be "fatigues". I don't know anyone that would choose to travel in uniform. You normally can wait to get it off and wear civi's.

Setting aside the fact that these types of dailymailesque stories are full of crap and hyperbole, why was she wearing fatigues in the first place to go on a routine flight when not on duty? A smart uniform maybe, but fatigues? This type of person sounds like an attention seeker wanting to be seen in public as the big military bks. All her talk of protecting the country...erm you're on a return flight to LA. Your headed back to work but it might as well as be a flight to Ibiza for your holidays or a fancy dress party. I know guys who work in the mines in Oz, they don't wear their miners' gear when flying home or back to work. As someone who was so upset at being asked to change , I don't think she's the quite the Rambo she she likes to dress up as on her days off. As a passenger my only objection would be having to sit next to a passenger who is apparently full of st.

Heading to the US, where being in a service uniform is a good thing, people say hi and respect is shown. No wonder she was in costume, besides, hey it is her job.

I do however think that G4S/flight manager's attititude to what she was wearing was wrong, she was not a threat to safety and as far as I am concerned it is acceptable dress to wear.

More to the point I expect this has caused her more than a few problems with her senior officer, I bet she gets a talking to about this.

Raises the question, Was it her who moaned to the Press or a well meaning friend, family member or even a member of the public ?

Is she fit ? is she able to kick ass ?

Last questions for benefit of PH

Fatigues? We never had fatigues when I was in HM Forces. That is an Americanism for scruffy work uniform. It makes it sound as if she was in overalls, when in fact she would have been in CS95 (or newer!)

That's the feeling I get from people in the military, it'd be like wearing your school uniform at the weekend.

I pop by over to these forums every so often, but I am constantly astounded at how much some posters on here always have to have a cheeky wee dig at muslims. Simmering racists are we?

yes

Although being 'so distressed' and 'shaking with rage' seems a bit hyperbolic.

Surely she's trained to deal with tougher situations than this as part of her job.
