Be careful with it, they can get worse!

Or, you could use your "savings and stuff" to take care of your family? Waynester said:

Ref the bad back, I would not feel so helpless if I could actually sleep comfortable at night- I cannot even do that, can manage maximum 3 hours sleep before it starts to feel awkward
Is there an answer?
Does yours feel better now- did the surgery work.?

Or, you could use your "savings and stuff" to take care of your family? Btw, have you tried to get contribution-based Jobseekers Allowance? You may get it if you have paid or been credited with class 1 National Insurance (NI) contributions. It's £60.50 per week, not much, but more than nothing.

Well, isn't that the point of savings?
Or would you rather keep them to spend on "stuff" and claim benefits to live on?
Don't get me wrong, I think the whole benefit system is cack but I have savings for that very purpose.
And income-protection insurance. It's not an expensive policy and will pay out £3k/month net after I've been off work ill for 3 months. It's index-linked too. Now, I don't know anybody else that has such insurance and I don't know why.
Personally, the thought of my family struggling to make ends meet if I were unable to work horrifies me.

There is always a chance, you just have to keep at it and maybe apply for more jobs. You don't need to disclose your age anyway on an application form or CV and the employer cannot ask your age during the recruitment process (well, unless you want to be a pilot or sth). Also, if you think that you were denied a job because of your age by an employer, you can take them to court, as there is an Age Discrimination legislation in place.Gassing Station | News, Politics & Economics | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
