Surely there is a modern day Guy Fawkes out there.....

It really is time for a fundamental change to these scum's expenses.

That's an odd wording ...

I wonder if any other "profession" in the UK is allowed to claim stamp duty in this way?

Once again, I am appalled. Again. And Again.

They should count themselves lucky this news didn't come out during a recession. Just imagine what would happen, then. Oh...

So, if they claim it back and the house is a 'work expense' - what happens to any profit they may make when they eventually sell up? Do they have to pay any capital gains tax due?

That's part of the scam though isn't it? They claim that their constituency home is not their main residence so they can expense the costs of it but there's nothing to stop them simultaneously claiming that it's their principal residence for Capital gains tax thus neatly side stepping tax when they sell up....

I've emailed my MP with a link asking for an explanation. The Parliament.UK website recognises my postcode in a different area to where my council tax is paid, shirley that's wrong?

I got a good letter back from my MP when I wrote to him on this topic. He said he had had a massive number of mails and had passed them onto the Government.

You never know, the gravy train may slow down a little.

Anyone know what the average MP grosses (including expenses)

They talk about a 60k salary not being much (MAtthew Parris), but it will be interesting to see what they actually Gross.

It's fking disgusting, there are people who I work with taking voluntary pay reductions at the moment and these vermin are taking the piss. It's about time they realised some reality.
