Most immigrants come here legally and take up gainful employment and generally abide by the law.. Anyone would think immigration is the root cause of all the UK's ills if you were to listen what Nick Griffin has to say.

By unskilled labourers, you are referring to the recent influx of eastern european immigrants ?Firstly, we need them, because no one else here is willing to do the work. Blame the welfare system and it's lefty proponents who maintain welfare dependency over generations in order to win themselves more votes.
And over population ? Surely the world would be equally as populated if there was no migration.. I don't see how immigrants are driving national resources to the brink either..

Surely that means we should fix the tax and benefit system, not base or future on on an endless que of people to do what we don't want to do? Our current strategy is so obviously not sustainable. What happens when the immigrants decide that now they are here they will live as we live and not do those jobs? Import more? And then more when the same happens?scorp said:

Water stress? Which valleys will be flooded to provide the required water supplies? Will it be enough?Social housing? Is it fair to make people who have been on the list for years wait longer due to new arrivals?
Education? Language problems.
Housing supply? Where will we build them? Green belts? Flood plains? School playing fields?
We are one of the most densely populated regions on the planet. The worlds resources are not the same as our local ones. We are full, and have been for a very long time.

I suspect his views are more down to xenophobia than by any social problems caused by immigrants.The systemic encouragement of the underclasses is a problem that successive governments have failled to tackle - look at any deprived estate and it will be polarised into households who work and those who feel sorry for them. I know this too well, because a lot of our warehouse staff have explained the 'interesting' issues of living next door to dole scum. (Try getting your kids to be in good time for a decent night's sleep on a school night, in the middle of summer when the vermin next door have decided that 10pm is an acceptable time to fire-up the BBQ and break open the cheap lager.)
However, the mother of all issues is global overpopulation. It's great for economic growth (and therein lies at least one reason why there is'nt necessarily always the politcial will to address the problem) but it is a disaster in the making.
