Maybe te Tories don't want to win this one....
Discussion
I was deliberating over a few beers at lunchtime about whether the Tories actually want to win this election.
Cameron seems to been putting in a sub-par performance for the past year or so, making what should have been a forgone conclusion into too close for comfort 3 way race (although, I do think Clegg will fall by the wayside once people wake up & realise they are voting for the future of their country, not a Saturday night X-Factor contest).
However, I do wonder whether the Tories are setting Labour up to win this one so that they f
k the country into a cocked hat & pretty much guarantee they will be locked out for many, many future terms.
Or maybe I had a couple of pints too many at lunchtime!! Either way, my wife & I are both agreed that if Brown or Clegg get in on May 6th, we will both be looking for jobs abroad to GTFO of this place asap afterwards, as we want to be no part of the devastation that will ensue should either of these very worrying men sway the public sufficiently.

Not sure if they are trying to lose it, just think there are a lot of 'media fickle' stupid people in this country that don't really read the policies of the parties or understand how f
ked we really are.
I do agree that if Labour get in I'll be looking abroad for work and then come back when and if things get better.

Yes - Cameron et al want to win. They would look like idiots if they didn't. Why would Cameron not want to be PM? If he fails, he'll have lost his chance for good.
Maybe, just maybe, the knots that Brown has tied the country up in are too big to undo & is is figured that it is better to leave Brown in place (while going through the motions of putting a competitive fight up) for him to reap what he has sewn. Wait for the pretyt much guaranteed revolution when GBP devalues to 1 USD (or less) & then look to mop it up.As I said, I've had a couple of beers, but it is a long game scenario that could be played.

No political party in recent years (ie post 1975) has kept a leader that lost them an election. If the Tories fail to win, Cameron will be yesterday's news by the end of the year.![](/inc/images/censored.gif)

Agreed, still as long as whoever gets in takes a huge 50% cost reduction axe to the communist junta put in place by the socialist labour party all will be well.
Basically they will have to otherwise there will be a bond default or IMF bailout.. or both. The only people left will be the scroungers who will wonder why nobody is paying for their sky subscription and 60" plasma repayments and all the FTSE100 has relocated their HQ's to Zurich etc.

Indeed, he's a dead man walking anyway because even if the Conservatives do well enough to put Call Me Dave into No 10 the majority if any will be so poor that he won't be able to do anything. in the very likely event that it's a hung Parliament or that he loses he will be out on his ear and the Vichy Tories will be in melt down. All we can hope for is that in such circumstances they figure out just why so many of their voters no longer support them and listen as to what they need to fix.
Regardless Winky is also stuffed and another dead man walking even if they win. How many leadership challenges now? Even if he gets back into No10 it's 18 months max for him.
It's been clear for 18 months, to me at least, that these two are on the way out.

I think I recall similar threads at the last election when it became apparent that the Tories were not going to have a landslide victory.
Would that be the one where the Tories polled more of the vote than Labour?I've been studying the Gerrymandering today - it's astonishing how many constituencies there are in the Labour heartlands.

Time will tell.

There is as I see it two possible hung outcomes, it will depend on whether the Lib-Dems gain more votes than Labour in the national count. If they poll less total votes than labour and have far less seats Labour become the official opposition the Tories hold a minority government. Labour will be thankful that they are the official opposition and that in less than 5 years time the standard labour/conservative battle can renew.
If the Lib-dems poll more votes than Labour I expect that even though they will have less seats that labour they would be in a dominant position to go into a coalition government with labour and demand that they get the majority of the top posts. If it works their would be scope for merging the parties into a broad party of the left.

So far I have a box full of Lib Dem propaganda stating what they will do.
I have one leaflet from the Tories telling my why they are less bad than Winky
I have written to all of the possible candidates for my area and the only one who bothered to reply was the Lib Dem who continued peddling the global warming and socialist b
ks. The only response I received from the Tories was "Are sure you live in the constituency?" ![rolleyes](/inc/images/rolleyes.gif)
It's concerning that these are the only idiots we can vote for but the Tories seem to be putting zero effort into winning :-(

It's fairly obvious that this is a fairly heavily poisoned chalice to whoever wins this one, I certainly wouldn't want to win it. It's almost worth thinking about letting Labour stay in so they can't pass the buck as they are bound to.
note the very important "almost" in that sentence :P
