Late 60's detached house renovation
Discussion
Apologies if the pics are a bit out of order, i'm downloading them off my phone.
We completed on this just before christmas, builders are in and hope to be finished by Easter at the latest.
Work needed: new kitchen, bathroom, wiring, heating, some flooring, remodel to create 4 beds and an ensuite/dressing room/main bedroom, new windows and doors.
Will get semblance of order as we progress (if anyone is interested of course

I am interested too as I bought a late sixties house just four years ago and after spending of the order of £35k only the previous owner would notice much difference for that cost. And she's dead!
New windows (12)
Fascias and soffits
Two areas of pink rendered blockwork removed and matching bricks put in instead
Balcony refurbish including nearly £2k for a new custom railing to replace low, ugly and rusty one
Garden wall repair and re-point
New walls in basement/garage to reorder the layout
Three new doors: back, French doors instead of patio slider, and new exterior porch door and surround
Two roller shutter garage doors
Roof de-mossing and repairs
Raised pond wall rebuilt
New drive gate
New roof on old stables now serving as sheds
All plus numerous other work remedying of years of neglect. Still need one new kitchen, one new bathroom and one en-suite refurbishing, relaying of fair sized area of flagstones (c.£7k worth), much garden work.
As above, no re-decorations yet, and no new carpets to replace the badly wine-stained existing ones. Taking a financial breather!

It must have cost a fortune at the time though as its a six piece suite, two sinks, loo, bidet, shower cubicle the works..
I was convinced its retro chic cool, however its current location (ie on a skip) would suggest my wife thought otherwise!
You should collect souvenirs from each room you redo - spoilt for choice in the bathroom.I was convinced its retro chic cool, however its current location (ie on a skip) would suggest my wife thought otherwise!
You should have sold it for salvage, no one makes that stuff these days and there's a bit of a market for the coloured fittings.
Not a big market but it's there.
Though maybe less so for that shade compared to blue/yellow/green.
I assume that room was originally a bedroom, can't have been a bathroom that size in that house as built?

That's a Jaaag drivers 60's swinger's bathroom.
I'd say more late 70s - my parents had one fitted that colour with similar taps in 1978. Was replaced in about 2001 for a white one. Previous to the burgundy suite they had a sort of Wedgwood blue one that came new with the house in 1965.My folks bought a new build in 1987 (I remember the year because my dad had a new D-reg Capri 2.8i Special at the same time.
They had a choice during the build. There was burgundy, dark blue or green suites to choose from. They went with the green
I fit a lot of bathrooms myself these days. I think it would be great to see a resurgence in coloured suites.
Judging by this site there were a lot of available colours at the time.
