After some P&P advice.

Moved house about a year ago (first house) so given hand me downs etc. Nothings scruffy and only about 5 years old. All rather bland. Room has 2 tables, 2 sofas, TV and a fireplace. Lots of off white paint all over the downstairs of the house.

All rather bland. How can I make it more interesting/ add a bit of character?

Over to you...

Fireplace sounds like a good start- make it a feature. More natural than 'feature' walls.

Accent colour.....not too much, but a few cushions, a vase, maybe some candles....easy peasy

Or like said already, paint one wall an accent colour, and pick up in your soft furnishings

For the record, my walls are plain white - I've always found magnolia to be a bit too avant-garde for my tastes.

My furniture is, well, furniture-coloured.

And what are these "soft furnishings" of which you speak? Do you mean cushions?

Pictures? You can get your own photos blown up and placed into little frames..... Then you have personal shots (I have a whaleshark I swam with and a caribbean sunset on my wall)....

Or just pop down some MFI/IKEA type place and pick up a set of pics?

Put your car in the living room and then take apart the gearbox, then try rebuilding it.

How about some pictures, paintngs etc that you like. PH ran a thread about motoring related artwork a while ago, I will try to find it.

In the meantime I have this (now hanging on the wall). It was created by a guy on another forum I visit and relates to my car so means a little more than just a random picture.
