Following last year's thread, what have we all got booked so far?

Sadly, i have to go to Oz for a wedding in January, which puts the brakes on the first part of the season for me, but I'm hoping to be back and over the jet lag within 10 days, and heading out to Kitzbuhel again at the end of January, coming home in April. A bit longer than last year!

If anybody is heading Kitz, Kirchberg, Westendorf, Ellmau, Sheffau, Soll region in February or March, give me a shout if you fancy a beer and toboggan evening. smile

I have the lucky advantage of being able to work from anywhere, and it's a quiet time of year for us too, so I can easily make time for it. Pre-Christmas is hectic though!

So, where, when, and for how long etc?

massively excited about this winter...

will be a very different one for me this time round, 1st time not working somewhere in the ski industry (or with my knees all bandaged up) for about 8 years! Only managed 3 days what with injuries and work last year. (Compared to 50-100 most years)

This season matthew, i am going to be a ski-punter! smile

Can't wait to have someone else doing all the work, not so excited about having to pay for it all again, will come as a shock frown

Budgets mean its probably all Euro stuff for me this year.

So far in the mix....

Early December quick trip to Val with papa moon for some family ski time
18 December weekend taking the gf to Cham (who has just bought some big volkls and touring bindings, proud of her!)
New year heading back to scotland to see the family, will have the teles in the car just in case there's some snow back in the homeland
Mid Jan Cham trip for a few days with some folks who are on a expedition training course (should be fun)

and then beyond that fancy something in march/april that involves a group of good friends, guides, smelly huts, ropes, touring, untracked snow (hopefully), some cheeky lines and generally some fun stuff. Thinking maybe Monterosa, Haute Route variations, Saas Fee, Bernese or something like that, ongoing discussions with the crew have just started.

good times smile

can you tell i'm excited?

All different for me this year too....
I am going to Les Gets next week viewing Chalets & Apartments to buy....
I already have an apartment booked first week in Jan, but that will change if I get my own.
Excited....you bet I am!

crikey that pic brings back memories - i lived in St Jean for a summer smile

a surreal experience where the highlight of the social calendar is a giant tartiflette and a speed goat herding competition.

We're off to Whistler for two weeks on Boxing Day. In addition, I turn 40 in mid Feb so I'm seriously thinking about telling work to frack off and disappearing somewhere interesting for a week - Japan maybe?

rofl

We keep going back as we like the town and the kids have the same instructor each year. I have seen a giant tartiflette at one of the festivals, but you've lost me with the goat herding......

Low key stag do late season, hopefully Austria, probably France.

Stick with it past the intro, Simon Dumont............

Skiin threads already eh smile . We'll be heading somewhere (prob Tignes or 3 vallees) week before christmas for a cheapy..
Did the same week last year and it was great, like having your own private ski resort.
Bit concerned tho,I had a knee opp in July and its made it worse so far rather than better so hoping it will hold up ok.
Suitcase full of painkillers mixed with copius amounts of alchohol should do the trick wink

I've done Val Thorens in the pre-Christmas week a few years ago, it was excellent. We headed over to Meribel and Courcheval which weren't so good though. Thorens is just a bit higher, snow is much more reliable.

Need a bit of luck with conditions that early . We went stayed in LaTania same time last year stupidly cheap and had some fantastic skiing. Not all runs open but that worked to our advantage, once youve ducked under the tape a nice long red run with 2ft of untouched powder to ski and no rocks or tree stumps to dodge.
The down side was that the lift at the bottom was shut and we had a 45min trudge back to C'val smile
worth every trickle of sweat.

eta.. how long did take to get to get down from your profile pic ??

Val d'Isere in the 3rd week of January for my group of regulars this year. Never been there before so I'm looking forward to it.

Anyone got any Val d'Isere tips?
