Today, after a long discussion with other half last night, I have packed a few things in a bag and am going to my brothers. We are calling it a break but I am scared it is more. We are great friends just crap at boyfriend and grilfriend. I just cant get my head around this. I instigated it as other half never would, he is a blokey put his head in the sand sort of guy.

The plan is I stay away for a week to think our future through and he does the same.

Why am I telling you? Well I guess I just want to tell some unsympathetic strangers as writing helps. I am afraid you can't have your 2 minutes back though.

Sorry to hear that.

Sounds to me like it's a non-runner.

Could be your best move. What's the point being in a relationship that you're not feeling fulfilled and happy in? And you're right, blokes do like to stick their heads in the sand.

"A break" is rarely just that.

Unless you get engaged in some serial "break up - get back together" feedback loop that ends up lasting 3 years, break up 6 times and get all twisted and bitter.

So I've heard.

Not sure I understand that, but if that is genuinely how you both feel it would suggest that its over.

Listen - you've got a vagina which is a massive advantage over your other half in the old "get over someone by getting under someone else". So, you know. Count your blessings.

Hell, I'll even help out if you like?

seriously - sorry to hear it. Relationship st is st

Have you tried being the boy and him being the girl? Might be awkward at first, but just tell him to bite the pillow a bit harder. wink

For some seriousness, it sounds as though it's run it's course as a relationship.

I think that in your heart, you know it is over.
Trying to accept with that is the hardest thing.

Did you both try making a really big effort to make it work?

How old are you, how long have you been together and what's your habitation status..?

All these factors will have an impact on the seriousness of the break....

Sorry Denise. I'm sure you feel crap at the moment, but it looks like you deep down know its not right, so moving on may prove to be the best thing in the long run. Hopefully you have some good mates to cheer you up and make you see things in a positive light.

Since we have never met and there isn't actually much to go on, I reserve the right to be 100% incorrect

A newly single gal on PH, you turn up and there is no mention of cake, nom nom nom, cats or dying alone?

I feel cheated.

It's sad when that happens, but can usually be alleviated by having wild, no strings, gratuitous bum sex with a stranger in a caravan.
