I thought I would turn to the knowledge of the PH brains for this one.
For this years CiN we have been set the challenge of dropping Pudsey Bear off the 2nd floor balcony in our offices. Slowest decent wins.

What type of parachute device would you use?

Is there a cost/size limitation?

Helium balloons at 1g of upward thrust less than the weight of the bear!

Jetpack? Make one using large fireworks. What could possibly go wrong?

Should have said, the balcony is inside the building, I don't think the H&S bods would like fireworks inside

How will the descent time be measured? Time taken from being dropped to hitting the ground?

If so:

1: Tie Pudsey to a bit of rope three feet shorter than the height of the balcony.
2: Fling Pudsey over the balcony.
4: Go home for the weekend.
5: Come in on Monday morning and cut the rope.

Cost is down to me - so ideally as cheap as possible.
Size - it would need to be able to fit in a 8 person lift

Arrow through his head; fire bear-loaded arrow up into the ceiling.

Pudsey remains fixed to ceiling.

Time to descend = infinity

Infinity = win

10 x helium balloons then? Will cost you £10 (or similar) and would take an age for him to land! You'd need a bit of prep just to get the weight right, but that's easy enough smile

Sounds like a fun challenge smile

I don't know but I couldn't help notice Pudsey has a politically correct, brown, female companion this year.

Politically correct she may be, but she's a right slut.

As much as I hate how far political correctness has gone, it's also ridiculous to immediately pounce on anything brown and/or female as 'PC gone mad'.
