Why do I feel down for no reason?
Discussion
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). I think a lot of people suffer from it to an extent.

I get this from time to time, everything going swimmingly then all of a sudden for no obvious reason a feeling of gloom and despair washes over you and it seems like nothing will make it go away. Luckily for me this only happens 2-3 times a year and lasts for a day at most. I feel sorry for people who suffer heavy depression and have to put up with that kind of feeling all the time!
Probably SAD as above. I wake up most mornings with an unpleasant sense of foreboding, but then both parents are elderly and quite ill.
As stated above, you need things to look forward to. Perhaps start planning a holiday, track days or whatever else provides highlights to your year.

Yup, me too!I fully accept that at these times I'm in a state of depression (albeit very small) and I try and act accordingly.
I make sure I don't drink any alcohol, make sure I don't look at eBay (important!) and take stock of what I have and try and drag myself out of it by realising that I have a bloody good life, good friends and ultimately a huge percentage of the world is worse off than I am
it works for me, may not for you, but once you realise what works for you.... remember it!
Don't worry too much about it, everyone suffers mood swings, it's natural, you can't expect to be feeling 100% all of the time, if you manage 50% most of the time you are doing well.
This crap weather doesn't help either, as has been said.
Always have something nice to look forward to a day or so ahead, even if it's something simple like a favourite TV programme.
Always nice to talk to someone, even if it's strangers on the internet, rather than bottle it up......
lol!@ Eric's joke.

I always suffer from SAD related stress at this time of the year. Although in my case, SAD refers to "Self Assessment Deadline".
The weather is particularly depressing at the moment, everywhere is under water & it rains all the time.
A week off work spent eating, drinking, socialising & slacking with a lack of exercise of body & mind is not a good thing.
If you have a hankering for daytime TV, especially Jeremy Vile, strongly consider suicide

I get this too, get into an irrational negative mindset, but then again I have not had the best time really. Me and the Mrs split up last night - Not really feeling the whole 'New Year' stuff this morning.
Bah Humbug.
That's rubbish.Bah Humbug.
If it cheers you up any, I got dumped on my birthday.
It wasnt a serious thing, but I found it quite funny that she picked ME F*CKING BIRTHDAY to do it.
As it happens, she got a little drunk on Christmas day and offered *ARE YOU COMING IN FOR A COFFEE* after I dropped her off at home. I said no, cos I was tired.
Dear God girls dont take a knock back well!!!! Ha.
