There must be a thread on this already, but I couldn't find one.

Who is showing which races this year, and if you are with sky, which package do you need to watch F1 HD?

If you are an old subscriber and have the (legacy) HD pack you get Sky F1.

If you are new to Sky or change packages, you need Sky Sports for the F1.

As for the Beeb - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/25458397

Is there any way of getting just the F1 races from Sky or do you have to buy Sky Sports? I'm not paying for a whole channel when all I want is a fraction of what it shows, but if I can get the F1 races on a 'pay per view' basis I might consider doing this to fill the gaps between the BBC's coverage.

If I didn't have the legacy HD pack with Sky I would be getting rid and getting now tv. I'm not sure how many races you would need to pay for to fill in the ones that the BBC are not showing.
If it's a lot, it could get quite expensive at £9.99 a race with now tv.

I have Apple TV so will catch a few Sky races on the Now TV app with a £9.99 24 hour pass.........especially the first race.

I think BBC are showing nine races. That leaves ten to buy. If race days cost £9.99 each on Now TV then that's £99.90 for the ten races that the BBC aren't showing. The implication with Sky is that I'd have to buy Sky Entertainment at £21.50 per month and then add Sky Sports at a cost of £22.00 per month, so I'd have spent the £99.90 that Now TV would charge me for ten F1 races in just 2.3 months with Sky!

The OP would also need to pay the additional £5.25 to watch any Sports channel including F1 in HD.

It's at least £49.25 a month without discounts but as a new subscriber you may get a discount.

It's only £99 for the year with now TV, if your not interested in qualifying. If you are you will need two day passes every go weekend making it £198.

Please tell me I'm wrong as I would like to save money too but not sure I am.

It'll be interesting to know how the viewing figured in the UK gave been affected by F1 switching to Sky.

I would love to have F1 on Virgin however I'm not spending £25 odd a month to watch half the races and I have zero interest in any other sport that Sky have to offer.

You're not wrong, but there are free passes given away with packs of Carling, etc.. throughout the year, so you could reduce this a little.

Do you know anyone that has the full/required package? Maybe you could make use of one of their Sky Go slots if they have one going spare.

You'll then get more than just the F1 channel and if you use it through an xbox, can view it on your TV.

Just a thought

I would be interested in swapping a code with anyone with a BT Sport code, I don't really us Sky Go, but will miss Moto GP this year otherwise.

I managed with highlights last year, rather than £600 to effectively give me access to the 10 races. It did the job and I'll do the same this year.

There was a thread on here somewhere with the BBC races on it as I have them highlighted on my wall.

2. Malaysia 30 Mar
5. Spain 11 May
7. Canada 8 Jun
9. GB 6 Jul
12. Spa 24 Aug
13. Italy 7 sep
15. Japan 5 Oct
16. Russia 12 Oct
19. Abu Dhabi 23 Nov.

I dont have the time right now but I think if you google "F1 Broadcasting Bog" you'll find a site with all manner of info on viewing figures.

You can get Sky Go for 1 month at £35. It allows 2 devices to connect to it, and last year I shared the cost with a mate, and watched the 1st two races that weren't on BBC. We are going to do the same thing this year. Connected my laptop to the TV and it worked fine with a 3MB connection.

Go here http://www.sky.com/shop/tv/sky-go/ and then click on the Show button next to "Find out how to get Sky Go without Sky TV in your home"

You can get movies (SD) and sports (SD) for £32.

Good option if you fancy both.

Is F1 still on German RTL channel this year? Worked last couple of years with £50 dish/receiver. Put radio on for English commentary. Not good for the build-up of course unless you really like looking at Lauda and Rosberg.

Yes as far as I know and it worked a treat with me last year. Just watch the feed and listen to Radion 5 live. Admittedly not the best but watching it live for a fraction of getting Sky.
