"News website"
If you don't want to know the results....
Tossers!
I just wanted to make sure ww3 hadn't broken out before I did my Mother's Day duties and got settled for the first race of the season.
Not much point now!
Why would they post the race result on their front page?
I'm pretty sure they don't do it for other sports?

They do it for football too. It still seems bloody daft to look at the news if you're trying to avoid the news...

But given most people who are trying to avoid the news will be intending watching it on the BBC later, they undo themselves by splashing it all over their site.

An "Australian GP news" hyperlink is all they need anywhere except the actual F1 section of the site.

My HTC got me this morning. Actively avoided any news and social media. then I swiped too many right on the home screen and got that blink feed thing up with a big picture of Hamilton and Nico stood smiling. lol

Girlfriends parents came round and divulged the winner after that anyway, so I was going to find out before I watched it no matter.

It was a foregone conclusion though, it was going to be them two on the top spots. The Merc is the fastest and seems to be the most reliable to boot (did they even have a failure during testing?). For the first half its going to be them two, pull out a lead, turn the wick down. Rinse. Repeat.

BTW, you can't even go on the SkySports app to re-watch highlights or repeats without seeing multiple news items about the race result. Once the race is run, its very hard to avoid the result unless you live on your own and dont converse with anyone until you watch it.

I got caught by Radio 4 when the radio-alarm woke me up this morning: no warning at all, they just said something like "Here is the news, Hamilton wins the first race of the season". You'd think they could have said "Australian GP results coming up shortly; meanwhile here are the rest of the headlines" to give people a chance to hit the off button. This is from the same BBC who know there are millions of people who can't see the race until their own edited highlights later in the day.

That's nothing.

I wanted to watch the qualifying on Sky yesterday, so planned to watch the re-run which started at 10am. Stayed off the internet and away from my phone so I did not know the results.

All going will until Sky put up an advert for the race coverage next day which included the results from qualifying!!!!

COCKS!

Got me as well totally stupid thing to do the bellends. I can't see why they have to advertise the race anyway it's pretty obvious if someone's watching the qualifying they know the timetable for the race on sky . Absolute aholes.

Even with the typo it was obvious from the title what the theme of this thread was going to be: so why bother even looking at it if that's your attitude to this discussion?rolleyes

Every year there will be new people who are caught out by thoughtless broadcaster spoilers: threads like this give them the opportunity to get the gripe off their chests.teacher

Hmm. I want to see it, though, rather than just hear it.

A news website has a duty to report news which whether you agree with it or not F1 is news. Just because you've chosen to put your life on hold re certain aspects you can hardly expect everyone else to conform just to suit you.

I don't think it is news, it's a sporting result, I didn't see any other sporting results in the news headlines, they even have a separate website called 'Sport' that you can go to for sports results, and even more specific, an F1 section, if I'd gone looking on there I could see your point.

This is an F1 specific section of a car website so by the same rationale it should be ok to have a big thread title announcing the winner as soon as they cross the finish line? Of course it wouldn't.

I can even see why other news agencies might broadcast the result but the BBC are the same people showing the damn race later in the day, I don't see them publishing the results of Masterchef, Bake-off or any of the other bolleaux competitions they broadcast.
A spoiler is a spoiler and it's not cricket.

They posted the Calcutta Cup rugby result on their main news page the day before.
