Whilst perusing the net looking for oddities I came across this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMC_Syclone

I know it's shaped like a brick and I'm sure it handles about as well but apparently it can reach 60 in 4.6s and I'd love to have one boxedin

Any feelings either way?

I'd love to run a pick-up/ute/bakkie, but that's just the South African in me talking.

No not at all, I quite like them too smile they look "right" somehow. You'd probably have to be completely mad to take one over something like a Maloo though biggrin

Well certainly some mixed responses there! I feel it's got a real purpose about it, and I suppose that's why I like it so much. I know it's bad taste and all that but hey why not. If I win the Lottery tonight I'll have one in the garage just for the fun of it smile

Those are seriously fast. I think Pentti Airikkala used to have one and told Fast Lane about the quick cars he used to bait with it.

Pints: Hilux or Nissan 1400?

Yeah, after I did a bit of research I found a couple of folk saying he had one, if that's not a commendation I don't know what is!

Hilux and the nissan have always appealed but the speed just isn't there for me. On that note though, instead of Top Gear fannying around with the nonsense they are right now. How bout a racing pickup challenge? I'd love to see Jezza et al blatting around in shedmade pickup track stars.

You're slightly wrong asking a load of MX5 obsessed PH geeks for an opinion on anything car related.

Looks cool to me - go for it (I don't own an MX5 but have mild geek tendencies)!

That's like asking MX-5 or M5. Totally different cars.

The Nissan 1400's engine was nigh on bulletproof but the body and chassis had... how shall I put it... integrity issues.

Got to be a Hilux.
