It is renewal time again! I am currently with A-Plan for two of our cars, but the renewal on my Z4 is coming out at £776.00 and Adrian Flux at over £800.00.

Aviva is £585.00 BUT with an £800 excess, which is too much. Tesco is £575.54 but with only a £500.00 excess.

I would be tempted to go with Aviva were it not for the excess being ridiculously high, so I am am swaying to Tesco. Reviews on Money Supermarket seem largely positive, but I have that old adage 'you get what you pay for' nagging at me. Has anyone used Tesco please, and in particular any experience if you are unfortunate and to need claim?

I have used them, only switched as they wouldnt cover my Jap import.
Very reasonable, easy to contact, good when I claimed for a windscreen to.

I'm currently insured with them after they offered the best quote with the lowest excess.

The only downside I have with them is that they charge an Admin fee of £25 if you change your policy half way through. However even if I did end up having to pay this a few times it would still work out cheaper than all the other quotes I got.

Used them for years. Nearly always been the cheapest or there abouts.

They also handled the 2 claims really well.

The shopping trolley is insured with them for Yonks. They price match whatever other quotes or give the difference in vouchers. When i wrote off my civic they paid promptly and there was minimal hassle.

I've used Tesco previously as I found them to be substantially cheaper than the other big companies. Never had an issue tbh.

I believe they were underwritten by Direct Line but are now independent. Ended up switching to the AA as the Tesco renewal simply wasn't competitive.

Used them for a few years and no problems. One no fault claim dealt with easily and quickly and they have English call centres who almost always answer straight away.

Try AXA, I've been really pleasantly surprised by their level of customer service this year. I've increased my mileage, changed the alloys on my car and started keeping my car garaged and there was no charges for any of them, in addition to also being the cheapest for me by a fair bit.

I used aviva for years. Just phone up and say the price you want and they usually match it.

Tesco cover is ok, but if its value you don't get windscreen cover thrown in.

Try Greenlight for the Z4. They only do sports models and have been highly competitive with their pricing for me for years and claims have gone smoothly too.

Tesco had been undrwritten by UKI (Part of Directline, part of RBS Insurance), but changed about a year ago or so, and are now underwritten by Liverpool Victoria.

I have to know, did they pay you in shopping vouchers?

Tesco use a panel, which includes Tesco Underwriting, which is majority ( but only just) owned by Ageas which is sort of Fortis as was.

Not sure LV are on the panel, even as ABC or Highway ?

They also still use UKI for some business.

And of course DL are now underwritten by UKI !

Was with them many years ago and they lost numerous amounts of paperwork when mving offices and tried to blame me, ended up changing and getting a cheque for my hassle. I went back with them with my last car as they were over £200 cheaper and as yet had no issues.

I use them for both my cars as they were the cheapest. Last time I spoke to them for a renewal they were still the cheapest, then the woman asked if I had a club card, when I said "Yes" and gave her the number she nocked another £85 off....!

Have a look at the comparison on asda. Always seems to be pretty cheap for me when I've done quotes on there

I've used them for 3-4 years now. The only slight complaint I do have is the fact that they won't insure imports for me. (missed out on a dc2)

Every year ive had to phone during renewal time after doing a few quotes to find it cheaper, which is usually Tesco themselves, and they usually match that and knock a few more quid off it. Friendly staff. Never bothered when I phone to do preliminary quotes if I want to change cars.
