Im starting to get annoyed with car searching now.
Discussion
6 Months or so i've been searching now.
I would have thought that E91 330d's are 10 a penny.
Problem is, i'm being very specific in what I want. 2007 or newer, less than 60k, MSport, iDrive, Xenons, Autobox, Silver/Grey/White (all in that order). £15k or less. Sunroof would be nice but not an urgent requirment. Ideally not a private sale. I'd also take a 335d but have written these off due to the rarity and extra money they seem to hold.
Even this isn't an exhaustive list though, so I thought i'd be able to easily pick one up. NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE.
So annoying. Just seen a nice 325d, which I considered as a compromise. Silver, average miles, faily well priced, but no Xenons.
The most annoying thing about all this is the amount of cars that could be contenders, which have clearly been spec'd up by a fking chimp.
Seriously, a white 2010 330d M Sport. Looks amazing. HAS fkING CLOTH INTERIOR AND A MANUAL BOX. WHO THE fk HAS DONE THIS?
"Hmm, I want sat nav, and a brilliant engine, in my estate. Im going to drive 80,000 miles before I sell it, but for those 80,000 miles, I want to sit in the same seats that I would if i was driving a 318ES, and i'd like to change gear every 25 yards of those 80,000 miles" fking mushrooms.
Hardly any 335's i've seen have been spec'd with Xenons. Why are people paying huge money for cars, then opting for two candles in jam-jars as headlights?
I appreciate not everyone wants gadgets and toys in their cars, but this is starting to get silly.

Presumably someone who wanted cloth seats and a manual box? It shouldn't be that much of a shock to realise that not everyone has the same tastes as you. If it was me, I'd have specced cloth seats and a manual gearbox because I prefer cloth seats and manual gearboxes. I also wouldn't specify xenons because I think they're too bright. kambites said:

OP, if you don't like it take the hit and buy a new car FFS!

Oh, on the same note, I'd not spec a diesel engine, either
Odd specs will be the result of people squeezing the 30d engine into their company car allowance rather than the smaller units, so compromising on interior stuff (or preferring a manual)....
Look for a repmobile and buying habits of reps will no doubt become obvious!
Don't get the need for xenons though, never had trouble seeing with normal headlights so to not buy a car because that one irrelevant feature is missing is strange to me.

I don't understand why Xenons are not standard on a £35k car. I'd also prefer the auto gearbox and leather.
However a 2007 year diesel anything with less than 60k on it would be odd to me, why buy a diesel to do only circa 10k a year? I'd wager buying a 100k plus example has likely had a better life.

I much prefer cloth interiors to leather and can totally understand specifying a manual gearbox. It's almost impossible to find any luxury cars or 4x4s without leather in which is the only reason I bought a car with leather. I think leather interiors are like grey paint, they make the car worse but for some reason improve resale value so everyone specifies this (I now have both ).

It's penny pinching. A few hundred quid reduces the margins. Anyway, it's not as if you really need Xenons is it?
Xenons are so much better than standard halogen nowadays. My current E39 has a hid kit and it's fantastic, wouldn't be without it. I never get flashed so obviously they aren't too bright. kambites said:

Or by someone buying the car they want, not with a view of what someone with champagne tastes and lemonade pockets might fancy 6 years down the line.fjord said:

Because retina burning lights are not the be all and end all of lighting? And if the headlamp design and focus is done properly in the first place, good quality halogens are good enough for most people.

Have your retinas REALLY BEEN BURNT? I mean really? Has a car with good headlights really had the same power as a fking laser shon Into your fking stupid complaining moaning piggy eyes and BURNT YOUR RETINAS ?And if the headlamp design and focus is done properly in the first place, good quality halogens are good enough for most people.
No I didn't think so, bet you have a epileptic fit every time you see someone with their fog lights on too.
Sick of these idiots
If you want a car specced to your taste buy a new car
Its not that hard
If i was speccing a new BMW diesel
i'd have cloth seats as leather gives me sweaty balls
i'd have a manual box as i prefer them
I'd not spec sat nav as i can read a map
I'd not spec fancy headlights as my eyeballs work quite well thankyou and a £200 light bulb is quite silly
I'd spec it in any colour then resale grey/poverty white or no imagination black
And it would have steel wheels
Quite frankly what the person buying it after me wants i couldn't give a fk
