Followed a car through Manchester the other day that had Liverpool FC football stickers, flags etc, all over the back window...it wasn't an old banger either....worth well in excess of 30k.

So, in today's sad times is this owner being a bit foolish, because I would suggest if he parked up somwhere, especially in Manchester...and even in Liverpool with Everton fans, there would be a very good chance he would get either the window put through, or his car keyed resulting in hundreds of pounds worth of damage....(at least).

Does sound a bit foolish to parade round Manc in Liverpool branded car.

I would'nt park it near the stadiums and expect it to be untouched if United or City

have a bad day.....smash

It also marks you out as a knob. Particularly if it's one of those charming "pissing on the opposition shirt" ones.

Every time I see one, I think the driver must be a knuckle dragging prick. Mainly because most football fans who shout out their allegiance all over their car in my experience have been knuckle dragging pricks.

That and people who say COYS after every status on Facebook. Examples as below:

I just had weetabix COYS
My wife just gave birth COYS
I just had a crap COYS

Anyway, in answer to your question, I sure as hell hope so. I would think in some regions where football is treated like a religion, it would be akin to walking through Harlem with a sandwich board saying 'I hate N***ers' on it, a la Die Hard With a Vengeance.

"Come on you Spurs" to save everyone else doing it...readit

Coys to me is an auction house.

At least COYS is about their own team (I'm not Spurs fan). I can't stand those that are derogatory to rivals. for example Birmingham City supporters routinely sign-off SOTV ("Scensoredt on the Villa) which shows hating the rivals is more important than supporting one's own teamrolleyes

I don't have this issue. I have a Kingstonian sticker in the window. No one's ever really heard of them!

Yes it's asking for trouble IMO, especially in a glorious city like manchester with all the rivalry of the clubs!

Lost interest in footy years ago, but I can't work out why you would do it.

Like it or not, there's a lot of aggro between rival fans. Why would you put, say an Arsenal flag in your car, knowing full well a multitude of Spurs fans, if not others, are likely to gob on your car if not cause physical damage.

It is asking for trouble.

Related to stickers, how about countless fake plates to advertise the fact you're a West Ham fan?

Anyone in / around the Surrey / Hants / Berkshire border will have probably seen this beauty on the road at some point:

How the hell is it legal to have a load of "plates" on the back of your car like that, surely it confuses ANPR?

I think I recall reading in my insurance policy something along the lines of not being covered in the event of displaying religious/political/ideological stickers, ornaments and such like.

I wonder what they would make of a car being vandalised due to a football affiliation?

Jesus, that is less football than mental illness !

There used to be a Cortina in Manchester that had loads of cardboard things about how fantastic the Queen was or "Her Majesty" as it said, again a mental.

I do struggle with rabid football fans, football is ok, mildly interesting, skilful game and I can see a little of the loyalty side but it gets out of hand, some are like bloody fundamentalists.

At the end of the day it is a company who employs paid mercenaries to kick a ball about on their behalf, they arent even from this country half of the time, never mind the local area, thats long gone, I dont mind watching a game but the whole championship thing is about as exciting for me as Tescos or Marks results, all that loyalty and the club doesn't generally give a toss about its supporters, all about extracting money based on slavish loyalty, usually handed down families.

Some at work plunge into depression based on a result, not sure what it actually means if they win, it makes no actual difference but blokes will cry about it, some get tattoos ffs !
