You're right, they probably overlooked that in development.

Car in public area, Dave not employee of McLaren. F1 pit lane tickets unlikely to be forthcoming for refraining to take photies.

Is it me or do those tyres look rather borderline legal? Even if they are semi slick which I doubt they still look pretty well used.

Not sure what VP11 lettering denotes, perhaps the codename from the test vehicle, but one of those, in orange, is pretty much the most desirable of the "new batch" of hypercars at the moment.

VP is verification prototype, means it's as good as a production car. And to the OP if the car was in a public place you could take as many photo's as you'd like. No one and I mean no one can legally stop you taking photo's while in a public place.

It's hardly as if the design is a massive secret, is it?

I think it was more the case that it was broke and they wanted to cover it up.

Plus in my line of work whilst working, photo are not permitted to be taken.

Is it one of the cars in the video of Jenson and Lewis at Goodwood? Also, I think they were using black ones for testing in the US (PH ran a story on it in August I think).

This was taken from the cab of a 7.5 tonner about 14:40 ish
Car came past at about 70 and was watching it in the mirror.
Managed to get unlimited truck up to speed to catch up.
Camera dash mounted of course :-)

Looking at the thing on the road, I have to say I think it looks brilliant.

Can't wait for one of these to pop up on my local "red letter day" equivalent experience day places.

meh, looks like an 80's transformer toy. If that was the new 'Lotus' shape i wonder if people would like it so much.
