Should I 997.1 C4S to 997.2 C4S

Is it really worth doing. Have a lovely Atlas Grey C4S with warranty but am seriously considering a change to the newer Gen 2 car. Better PASM, newer engine etc and a PCM that is way better. Oh plus a red stripe!

Is the Gen 2 that much better?

Also, if you have a Porsche Extended Warranty, you will reach the point where a Gen.1 997 won't be eligible for an extension in the not too distant future.

I have a Gen.2 C2S PDK and love it.

Won't be PDK hate auto's and yes I have driven pdk. I have great a/b roads and enjoy heal and toe...

I've driven both extensively and IMHO unless you are going from a Tiptronic auto to PDK auto then there is not enough difference to justify it assuming you are happy with the current car. As you say you hate autos then I can't think there is much point in you changing. The new PCM is much nicer to use, but the old one wasn't exactly a hardship.

Not big enough difference between gen 1 and 2 if sticking to stick.

I went from C4S manual (also Atlas Grey) to 4 GTS PDK. Overall I'm very happy. It's all the things I liked before, with several key items evolved or better. It's noticeably faster, and generally harder all round - although I always tell the wife she's mistaken and it's just the same.

The PDK is sensational, and I would urge you to definitely consider it. The car accelerates when I pull the lever rather than pauses when one is using a manual. I use it in manual mode 99% of the time anyway so it's very engaging.

Then there's stuff like better stereo, phone, allegedly much improved front suspension construction and the interior's good if you get the leather upgrade which many do.

It took me a while to justify it on paper but every time I get in it I don't regret the decision.

Thanks for everyones comments. I'm going to go for it. It is a manual as I'm sorry but I really dislike PDK...however each to their own.

I'll update once the deal is done! Anyone want a nice Atlas grey C4s gen 1?

New car just collected from Bournemouth, long drive back. Verdict: Gen II is way better than Gen I....

Absolutely loving it, PCM works and looks good, still an Analogue car, Mor epower but feels alot faster than it should. PASM better, gearchange better... Brakes less servoed - and better.

All in all great
