I've haven't had my 996 long and have seen these paddle shifters being taked about they look really good! My car is a tiptronic and I don't really use the buttons as they are a bit of a pain! Has anybody on here had them done?

Here's a link to the thread I started having had the paddle shift wheel fitted to mine

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

It's not cheap but I'd recommend it. Much better than using the buttons!

There was a post up on here with someone who used aftermarket and customised their steering wheel with them. Just wired into the switched from behind. Quite simple really and surprised it wasn't attempted before.

I just cant get used to the buttons, I've seen the other thread and they look good but my car is my daily driver so I can't really afford to have my car off the road. The one on the other forum is a place called edition9 and I could have it done in the day!

I have just had the paddles fitted to my 996TT Tip by Andy @ Edition9. I cannot recommend this enough for anybody who hates the tip buttons (like me). It has totally transformed the car and I find myself changing gear much more frequently and smootly than with the buttons.

The paddles he installs look like they were factory fitted and have a metallic, high-quality feel. I had them fitted to my existing tip wheel and left the buttons enabled but Andy can also disable the buttons if required or modify a manual wheel if you supply him with one.

Edition9 are based in Bolton and I live locally so dropped the car off with them for around 5 hours to complete the work. Cost was £399 fully fitted.

I've recently had the Edition9 paddles fitted to a manual wheel I supplied. Also required the Tiptronic steering wheel loom connector, which I happened to have a spare of. The paddles are high quality, look fantastic and feel really good. The wheel is currently off for a re-trim with JD Trimming, using genuine Met blue leather supplied by Southbound Trimmers. Can't wait to get it back and installed!

Here's a pic of the wheel just after the paddles were fitted:

Good work!

Just had word from JD Trimming that my re-trim is complete and the wheel will be shipped today to arrive with me early next week. I'll make sure to post a few photos of the finished article, pre- and post-fitting. Can't wait to see how it looks....

Well I've had my car back from Edition9 after having paddles fitted and it's transformed my car. I'm now using them most of the time rather than just sticking it in Drive and that's it. I have to also say that the paddles feel very high quality and look like they were fitted at the factory!!! I can't recommend the modification or Edition9 enough!

I agree. A very fair price from Edition9. Having driven my car properly with the paddles yesterday, I'd agree that it's a fine upgrade and makes a decent improvement to the 'manual' shift mode.
