This is for anyone who owns an EV to say what you've got - not just your EV but other vehicles.

I've had a Vectrix VX-1 for a couple of years now and use it for my commute.

Most of my annual mileage is electric, but my other cars are both V8s evil

So what have you got?

Hi Caruso nice fleet smile

I googled your bike and noticed a 3-4 hour charging cycle. Have you worked out an actual running cost for your mileage per week? Also would you be so kind as to add the cost of bike insurance to the EV Insurance thread? I'm trying to get as much info on there as possible so that anyone that visits our forum area can see at a glance the benefits and costs associated with Electric Vehicles.

After all this is a good reason to go electric thumbup

The Vectrix has a 3.7 kwh battery and it will go about 25 miles on that. It takes about 5kwh to charge the battery though! So it works out at 2p per mile assuming you pay 10p per kwh. I do about 120 miles a week.

That's not bad at all for running costs. Have you had any near misses due to people not hearing you creep up on them? As a biker myself I've got noisy cans and can see the benefit because people are most certainly aware of your presence. A silent electric bike is a completely different ball game.

Either way, that could fulfill my commuting requirements as my journey to work is less than 18 miles.

I have ordered an i3 which I will be running alongside my M3. It must be compulsory to have a V8 alongside an electric vehicle...

I will use the i3 for my 44 mile round trip commute and it will be used for all the short journeys we do.

Wife will use the M3 for her 4 mile commute, unless I need to go further than 100 miles on business, in which case we will swap.

It's far from silent, it makes a noise like a cross between and underground train and a tie fighter.

Nice, I was drooling over the i3 when I had the 540 in for some work last week.

Depends. Do you also have a V8?

In the Tesla thread, I learned a great deal about Tesla's.

In this thread, I see that the social norm, if one owns an electric vehicle, is to also own a V8

I best get looking for some OAP american muscle, ofset all those carbon savings from owning an electric vehicle

I have one of these.

It's very good fun but much bigger and heavier than expected. Supposed to be good for 30mph, very quick acceleration. Fully charged in 3 hours it's good for an hours use.

I've two mobility scooters !
Plan is to build another along the lines of a Peel P50. Already got a 2hp motor out of a golf buggy. Strict rules I have to abide by but not difficult. Main problem is weight - limited to 150kg to still fall within the Invalid Carriage category.
Patent on large capacity Ni-MH batteries ceases next year so intend using them - Chinese have already set up factory to produce them.
