My thoughts?

1) I'm not sure if my fav colour is blue or yellow
2) I always wonder why Claudia Winkleman dresses like she does
3) Lego, more painful to step on that a landmine
4) Can we classify Potholes as "life"? (they seem to grow and multiply by themselves, and are difficult to erradicate)

Oh, you mean about a 'leggy 302d??? ;-)

1) I'm not sure if my fav colour is blue or yellow - Blue, yellow is beyond terrible and is a colour for flowers not cars.
2) I always wonder why Claudia Winkleman dresses like she does - I like the way she dresses but mostly wonder what she looks like without clothes.
3) Lego, more painful to step on that a landmine - not quite true but immensely annoying to tread on with bare feet, especially when you get up in the night to go for a pish.
4) Can we classify Potholes as "life"? (they seem to grow and multiply by themselves, and are difficult to erradicate - yes
5) 320d with 200k would you ? - no I don't think so, possibly if it had a mahoosive book of receipts showing it was as good as it could be, however it would depend on price and overall condition and what else I could get for the same amount of cash.

It would have to be cheap and have a big service file oil services min of 20,000 miles, when did it last have discs and pads? They can do 200k with correct maintenance most modern diesels can.

I think he is taking the piss out of you because your initial post has none of the required information to give you any kind of advice.

If you are being offered a leggy 320d for £2 and getting a £1 trade in for a kids bicycle then it is a very good deal.... go for it.

If you are being offered a leggy 320d for £20,000 and getting £100 trade in for a Smart Car with 'powered by fairy dust' stickers, then you are a fool. I mean, who'd drive a Smart Car?

1) Turbo
2) Swirl flaps

See if both have been replaced. I had a 2004 320d and it was excellent in all respects. *But* that was in 2005.

Sorry to be an astronomical pedant, but it hasn't even been to the moon.

OP ask yourself this question. "What could possibly go wrong?"

If it cheap and runs OK then have a go. Don't spend any money it though. If it breaks scrap it for a few bob.

If you can afford to throw it away if it borks, then take a punt.

If you are down to the last if your savings and this car needs to be faultlessly reliable gif the next few years, then probably not.

I bought a 200k mile Merc C class diesel, currently racking up 700 miles a week average.

It's pretty good for what I paid and may well put in a few years service with regular DIY servicing, but as someone posted above, I'm under no illusions that it's one bad day away from being weighed in and we start again.

I heard they can do 60mph in 4.1 seconds. A guy who reckons he has a Corvette said so, so it must be true.

It all depends on cost... wouldn't pay more than 6-700 for one.

Have one bought with 57k and has now 184k. They are good cars but can throw a big bill. Mine had the normal service items but also had a full suspension refresh which costs a bit, bushes I think going on the 3rd set. Mine had to have a high pressure fuel pump as mine failed. Otherwise it's fine, I still do over 1000 miles a month on mine. I just do more frequent oil changes. Mine is still on original turbo and clutch... don't really know how but it is.

The 320d for all its defects and boring is a decent motorway mile muncher

Not as painful as an upturned plug. That is the holy grail of pain.

I stepped on a toy mater from the kids film "cars". Damn that hurt. Probably hurt more than the time i stepped on a bit of wood with a nail sticking out of it and punctured my foot.

The 320d is the best car you can buy, as endorsed by the resident racing driver.

Obviously somebody with the username Minge Eater is to be taken hugely seriously.
